After becoming a member of the Fantastic Four Franklin accompanied his parents and uncle to battle the allied forces of Dr Doom and Namor. When Namor killed his uncle Johnny, Franklin used his vast reality manipulation abilities to make the right half of Namor's body to burst into flames and burn non-stop for years to come, his mother, Sue Richards also died in this battle. Soon after these events Franklin disappeared.
He resurfaced many years later and had taken the original Galactus' place. It was revealed he had used his abilities to 'believe' he was Galactus, when Franklin came to Earth to devour it to destroy the Celestial Seed within it, he was convinced by his father Reed to spare Earth.
