According to a recent update on the Cinefex (http://www.cinefex.com/upcoming/films/xmen2.html) Web site, special effects house Digital Domain will be returning to work on the X-Men movie sequel, X².
Digital Domain were one of several FX houses that worked on the first film, and were primarily responsible for the Senator Kelly "melting" effects.
For more information on the company, visit their official Web site (http://www.digitaldomain.com/).

The part where Senator Kelly reverted into a puddle of water was pretty cool. I especially loved how gradual it seemed, almost as if the process was slow and taking its time. I wonder if Digital Domain will be working on Senator Kelly again, even though he apparently died in the first film. Remember when Magneto said "Are you sure you saw what you saw?" Basically, he was implying that Senator Kelly could still be alive.
Think about it for a minute. Seeing Senator Kelly turning into a puddle of water was simply amazing, but what if the puddle of water turned into Senator Kelly? Now that would be interesting.

Very interesting, but when thinking along those lines the other possibilities make my head hurt...OUCH!

I'm hoping this time they digitally enhance Halle's Storm wig. Can you say Blue Light special K-Mart mop?

LOL. That was pretty clever. Her hair was pretty convincing, though - that much you have to admit. Besides, there will be a few changes in store for Storm's haircut. Halle Berry mentioned in a Cinescape online interview that there were plans to give Storm short hair in the sequel, specifically the bob hair style that has been increasing in popularity for some time now.

Don't see it. I've seen more realistic hair on a Klingon... or even William Shatner. Maybe if she didn't have those bangs... the headdress from the old days would be nice.
Personally, I'm hoping that ILM gets a little action here. There's just nothing like em, save maybe WETA's work on LOTR. Still, the Kelly effects in X-men were the best. Still pretty believable, especialy when his face is warping at Magneto's hideout. I just pray that whoever did that horrible Wolvie on the SOL shot doesn't return. And please keep Sony's effects far, far away from this movie. Harry Potter's Quidditch match burned me. It burned me, mommy. Humanoid animation should be avoided at all costs. It's bad, Bad, BAD!!! CGI Sentinels are a must, though.
I also think that the more tanglible (real) effects used on the characters, the better. It would be nice for Beast to be some kind of costumed actor, just so we can get some interaction with the cast. Then let the teams' powers all be done with CGI.

I thought the effects the first time out were great, really unobtrusive. Everything (not commenting on the wig) looked quite realistic. When CG effects are obviously CG, like in the Mummy movies and that Quidditch match, it is distracting and takes you out of the movie.
I can't remember who did the effects on the Mummy movies, so if it was DD and I've just made an idiot of myself please be kind.

It was ILM, but it was a different team then does their Star Wars/Spielburg work, and they ran out of money and time with both movies.
What X2 could use is some CGI matte painting establishing type shots, damnit! Open up the scope Singer! I want to SEE Magneto's hideout!

Hideout schmideout, I think it'd be cool to see some effects-souped-up Asteroid M!! Plus, the Blackbird would go well with the outer space theme.
