These giant mechanical monsters have one purpose: Hunt and kill all mutants. Created originally by the brilliant Professor Bolivar Trask, the Sentinels were unleashed just before the X-Men were created, whilst meeting one of their newest recruits, the X-Men encountered the Sentinels who had pin-pointed the location of the mutant Bobby Drake, the Sentinels were destroyed and Bobby was saved.
The Sentinels were then sent to the Savage Land to cripple Magneto and his Brotherhood organisation. They killed dozens of mutants until Magneto used his powers of magnetism to re-program them to hunt humans instead of mutants.
They then turned on Washington D.C. where they destroyed everything in their path until they were stopped by the X-Men.
