A decorated war hero, after spending his entire life serving in the U.S. Military General Ross was given the assignment as the newly acting Director of the international law-enforcment agency, S.H.I.E.L.D. or Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate.
After meeting with Colonel Wraith, head of Weapon X (a S.H.I.E.L.D. sponsored organization) he decided the Program needed to be shutdown after discovering Wraith had kidnapped the same team of mutants who had saved the Presidents life.
Soon after he and his entire cabinet were assassinated by Wraith, after telling them how he would use Professor Xaviers vast telepathic abilities to control every mutant on earth.
