The young girl known only as Rogue was taken in and forced to serve the government sanctioned Weapon X Program. Enfitted with a Neural Implant that would be remotely detonated if she acted up, Rogue was abused and beaten by Wraith on a daily basis. She was sent on a mission to Japan and made contact with the X-Man Colossus, whom she secretly touched to read his memories, thus finding the location of the X-Men's Institute.
She was with her Weapon X teammates when they stormed the X-Men's school and took them prisoner, Rogue was responsible for taking out Marvel Girl and Iceman. During her time with the X-Men as prisoners of Weapon X Rogue soon became friends with them.
When the Brotherhood of Mutants freed the Weapon X captives including Rogue and her cellmate, Juggernaut, they were both offered membership to which they apparently accepted.
When Magneto was supposedly killed, Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch became the Brotherhood’s new leaders. But because she was not happy about the new direction of the Brotherhood, Rogue left it together with Toad and Juggernaut. (Ultimate X-Men 22)
After Magneto was freed from Charles’ mind-blocks and ressumed leadermanship of the Brotherhood of Mutants, Rogue rejoined the Brotherhood. Together with Mastermind, Juggernaut, Toad, Hard-Drive and Vanisher, Rogue blew up the Brooklyn Bridge in New York, killing hundreds of people. After the Ultimates tracked down the six of them, Rogue tried to escape them with the help of Toad. But because Toad was carrying the extra weight of Rogue, he broke his ankle on one of his jumps. Rogue tried to continue alone and took over Toad’s powers, but eventually she was taken out by one of Hawkeye’s arrows. (Ultimate War 1)
After her capture by the Ultimates, Rogue was sent to Camp X-Factor in Cuba. Just before Magneto was ready to destroy the entire world, he sent a rescue team to free all the mutants in Camp X-Factor, including Rogue, Nightcrawler and Professor X. But the X-Men were able to stop Magneto just in time, but Magneto was still able to use his doomsday weapon one last time to cause a nuclear meltdown in Florida. With the help of Sentinels, Professor X arrived in Florida and came up with a plan to contain the meltdown. Rogue was ordered to use her telekinetic powers, which she stole from a fellow prisoner, to hold the radiation inside just long enough until Marvel Girl arrived and lifted the whole area and dealt with it. (Ultimate X-Men #31)
With the help of Professor X, Rogue did not have to go to prison for her part in Magneto’s terror campaign. Instead, Professor X became Rogue’s guardian, after which she joined the X-Men (Ultimate X-Men #32)
Rogue is a mutant with the ability to absorb the memories, knowledge, talents, personality, and physical abilities - whether superhuman or not - of another sentient being through physical contact of her skin with the skin of the other person.
