Born of a human mother, Pietro is the son of Magneto, the master of magnetism. Being raised by an uncaring father was hard on Pietro growing up but was soon placed in charge of the Brotherhood of Mutants, Magneto's anti-human terrorist team of mutants. On one of his many missions with the Brotherhood he kidnapped the Presidents daughter and took her to Croatia.
He had his first confrontation with the X-Men when they freed her, Pietro was badly wounded by Wolverine during the battle. Pietro was then replaced by the recently defected X-Man, Cyclops as leader of the Brotherhood, who led them to London to sabotage the Brittish plans for a fleet of Sentinels.
Upon returning to the Savage Land, the Brotherhood were attacked by a large fleet of Sentinels who killed dozens of mutants. Magneto, using his ability to manipulate anything metal, changed the Sentinels programming to hunt humans instead of mutants and headed for Washington D.C..
Quicksilver and Cyclops betrayed Magneto and helped the X-Men defeat him. Quicksilver was responsible for removing his fathers helmet allowing Xavier to take control of his mind, seemingly killing him.
Pietro was later seen leading the Brotherhood's attack on Weapon X to free the X-Men. Once freed, he offered membership to former Weapon X captives, Juggernaut and Rogue, they apparently accepted.
After Magneto’s supposedly death, Pietro became the new leader of the Brotherhood, together with his sister the Scarlet Witch. When the X-Men were captured by Weapon X, the Brotherhood came to their rescue and freed them.
After they freed the X-Men, Quicksilver and his sister kept contact with their "uncle" Charles Xavier. Although they still wanted to dominate the world by their terrorist activities, Charles was able to convince them to use their abilities to expose corruption in the world. (Ultimate X-Men 15)
When some of the Brotherhood’s members became unhappy with Wanda and Pietro’s new policy for the Brotherhood, they left. But the Brotherhood also gained some new members, when Pietro and Wanda freed some evolved primates from laborities. But even they became unhappy after their leaders forbade them to use bombs on a mission to disarm India and Pakistan of their nuclear weapons. Around the time that it became obvious how much Pietro and Wanted enjoyed being famous, the Blob, who pretended to be a female mutant model, came through the internet in contact with Beast of the X-Men. Because Beast started to trust the mutant model, he told ‘her’ that Magneto was still alive. Behind Wanda and Pietro’s backs, the primates organized a meeting with Beast and used their psychics to find out about Magneto’s whereabouts. After Magneto was freed from Charles’ mind-blocks, Pietro and his sister fled. (Ultimate X-Men 22-25)
Pietro and Wanda joined the Ultimates because they thought that they would be safer there but unfortunately Magneto tracked them down and invaded the Triskelion. Confronting his children for their betrayal, Magneto decided to punish them. He blamed them, especially his son, because they used his Brotherhood to help the humans. Although Wanda was not physically harmed, Magneto made her watch when he shot Pietro’s kneecaps. (Ultimate War 1-2)
Quicksilver possesses superhuman strength primarily in his lower body as part of his body's adaptations for running. With his upper body he can lift approximately 1000 pounds. He can leg press approximately one ton under optimal conditions.
