At a young age Jean was institutionalized after her telepathic abilities drove her mad. She was found and taken in by Professor Xavier and became his first student, she learnt to control her telepathy. While at the Xavier Institute, Jean met and befriended Scott Summers who developed a crush on her. She was later sent on a mission to recruit three misguided mutants into the X-Men, including breaking Storm out of prison.

The X-Men were then formed. They were sent out to recruit their latest member Bobby Drake, who were then ambushed by a squadron of Sentinels, giant mutant-hunting machines. Saving Bobby and destroying the Sentinels the X-Men returned to the Institute. They were then sent to free the rogue mutant known only as Wolverine from the psychotic leader of Weapon X, John Wraith. During the battle, Jean stopped Wolverine from killing Wraith, telekinetically pulling him away.

Jean soon developed feelings for Wolverine, but little did she know he was an assassin sent by Magneto to kill her mentor, Xavier. The X-Men were then sent on their first official mission as a team to Croatia to rescue the Presidents daughter from Magneto's Brotherhood of Mutants who had kidnapped her. During the battle, Beast was badly injured. With the aid of Magneto of all people, the team returned to the U.S.

Upon their return, Jean and Logan shared a kiss, though Logan knew Scott was watching. Scott later defected to the Brotherhood. Days later, Logan told Jean that he was in fact an assassin sent to kill Xavier, but were soon called to Washington D.C. to stop Magneto and his army of Sentinels from killing the human population. During the fight, Magneto was betrayed by Wolverine, Cyclops and Quicksilver and he was defeated. Later, Logan ended the relationship with Jean and took a leave of absence.

Jean was amoung the rest of the X-Men when they were captured and forced to serve the Weapon X Program with the use of Neural Implants to keep them under the Programs control. On a mission to recruit an Indian scientist named Atul, Wraith changed his mind and ordered Marvel Girl to kill him instead, when she refused, Wraith activated Cyclops's Neural Implant forcing her to choose between her close friend and the doctor. <img src="http://comixfan.com/xfan/images/headshots/ultimate/marvelgirlwx.jpg" align=right alt="Marvel Girl"> She killed Atul to save Cyclops's life. During her time at the Weapon X Program Jean became friends with the young German-born mutant, Nightcrawler. With the aid of the Brotherhood of Mutants and S.H.I.E.L.D., Wolverine managed to free his teammates. When Colossus attempted to bring down the Weapon X compound, which would have resulted in dozens of deaths, but was stopped by Jean who said enough people had died.

Jean then accompanied Professor X and the X-Men across Europe to help promote Xavier's new best-selling book. Upon arriving at London the team were soon summoned to Muir Isle to help track down the Professor's recently escaped son, Proteus. Jean and Scott were sent to Russia to look for missing teammate Colossus, who they thought may be in danger. They found Colossus and he told them that he left the X-Men voluntarily and wanted to lead a normal life. Jean convinced him to return to the X-Men.

Jean, along with Cyclops and Colossus soon arrived in Germany to help in the fight against Proteus, whom they defeated.

Jean possesses both telekinetic and telepathic abilities.

Was it really mentioned anywhere, that Jean trained as a nurse?
I know, she "borrowed" surgical skills (as did Xavier) to help Beast and she´s working with mental patients, but neither qualifies as nurse training.

Actually, Logan told Jean he was working for the Brotherhood while they were in D.C. They were in a hotel room at the time.

The last time I can think of her using that name was the last issue of Hellfire and Brimstone, but she's certainly been referred to as Marvel Girl enough to warrant the title.

I guess you can add Ultimate Spider-Man #42-44 for her, Storm and Kitty (don't really want to go into each one and state the same info over and over again). Also I guess Spidey could be added under allies. Wow, I guessed a lot in this one.
