After running into a recently orphaned girl who begged him to use his "magic" to bring his mother and her boyfriend back to life after they were savagely killed by the corrupt police officer known as Hammerhead.

He took the girl into his care and became friends with her. She was then kidnapped the next day while Gambit was sleeping by Hammerhead who wanted to kill the only witness to the murders.

He then recieved a visit from Professor Charles Xavier and one of his students Storm. Xavier offered a place for him at his school, Gambit said he'd consider it.

Gambit then tracked Hammerhead down and killed him, freeing the girl into foster care.

Remy has the mutant ability to kinetically charge any object he wishes organic or inorganic, causing it to explode, he also possesses an ability to "charm" anyone he wishes and a degree of agility.

There was preview art by Raney done of him and Rogue year ago showing them both in X-Uniforms.

Angel was in the poster also...so maybe the three of them will join together when Angel makes his debut in a few months.

It's actually interesting that you chose to use those specific words in your profile because actually his powers don't work on organic matter. Otherwise he could just go around all day blowing people up and he'd have no need for his cards. Also, I'm pretty sure his "charm power" isn't a power at all, but rather just that he's a good looking, charismatic guy with a french accent.

Actually yes they do work on organic matter. Trees are organic matter. so are cards made of paper. Marvel needs to take a science course and realize that the terms "organic matter" and "living tissue" are not inter changable.

Listen 4faith. Gambit's cards are not organic, because the average playing card is made up of more than trees there is ink, plastic, and lamination. Also he uses those cards like they are hand grenades. I hope you learned something from this 4faith, but if you didn't then I fell sorry for you.

I am well aware that cards are more than just paper but they are paper too and Gambit charges all of them not just the outside. Marvel does not make the distinction. More if the cards don't work for you, this is Ultimate, in which Gambit's first appearance in 13, he charges a cheap piece of paper - just plain old paper - the paper - not the tiny bit of ink writing. In X-Men Onslaught, Gambit charges a whole wood floor - not the nails or the sealant - the floor itself - we and the rest of the X-Men see the whole wood charge up. In his first LS, Gambit charges a leather coat - not the buttons or zipper but the coat. These are all purely organic. And those are the ones I can think of off my head, . I'm sure if I looked at every comic, there will be way more examples. Marvel doesn't mean organic - they mean living flesh, and I wish they would learn the difference.

Also he uses those cards like they are hand grenades.

How does that make the paper less organic? Increasing their kinetic energy likely helps with the aim.

I hope you learned something from this 4faith, but if you didn't then I fell sorry for you.

Don't feel sorry for me. Chemistry is my major and I know what I meant and I still say Marvel doesn't have a clue. Gambit charges organic matter all the time.

Ultimate X-Men #14 reveals Remy's connection to someone named Essex.

Essex/Mr. Sinister appears during "The Tempest" storyline. He was a scientist working at the New Orleans Oscorp Branch before going crazy and getting fired.
