Orphaned as a child and taken in by Charles Xavier, Cyclops was one of Professor Xavier's first recruits into the X-Men, Scott is a firm believer in the Professor's dream of peaceful co-existance between humans and mutants.

Upon arriving at the Xavier Institute, Scott met and developed a crush on Jean Grey, Marvel Girl. When Xavier began recruiting and training other mutants, the X-Men were formed with Scott acting as field leader. Soon after the X-Men were formed, Xavier sent them to recruit their final member, Bobby Drake. During this time the X-Men had their first encounter with the Sentinels, after <img src="http://comixfan.com/xfan/images/headshots/ultimate/cyclopswx.jpg" align=right alt="Cyclops"> defeating them and saving Bobby the X-Men returned to the Institute. A few days later, Cyclops led the X-Men to free the mutant assassin known as Wolverine from the clutches of John Wraith, Wolverine, whom Cyclops didn't trust, then joined the team.

Cyclops led the X-Men on their first mission to Croatia to rescue the Presidents daughter who had been kidnapped by the Brotherhood. During this time, his teammate Beast was mortally wounded by a Croatian soldier.

Later, Cyclops noticed the feelings Marvel Girl had for Wolverine and became jealous. He grew tired of Xavier's manipulations and decided to defect to the Brotherhood.

He led the Brotherhood on a mission to London where they blew up a portion of Big Ben to set back Blair's plans for a Brittish Sentinel fleet, a relationship developed between him and Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch.

Cyclops was present when the Sentinels attacked the Savage Land killing dozens of it's mutant inhabitants until Magneto magnetically took control of them and made his way to Washington D.C., Cyclops then turned on the Brotherhood and warned Xavier and the X-Men. Along with Quicksilver and the X-Men, he helped stop Magneto from killing the President and destroying D.C..

Weeks later Cyclops and the X-Men were attacked and captured by Wraith and his Weapon X team of mutants. Keeping them in check with the use of Neural Implants they were forced to carry out missions on behalf of Wraith, including the recruitment of Dr Atul Pandya. Wraith later gave Marvel Girl the order to kill the doctor when she refused he activated Cyclops' Neural Implant threatening to blow his head off, Marvel Girl killed Dr Atul to save Scott's life.

Wolverine was then apparently captured. He had a tracking device lodged in his lower intestine which allowed the Brotherhood to locate Cyclops and the X-Men and help free them.

On the X-Men's visit to London to promote Xavier's new best-selling book, the X-Men were called to Muir Isle, while Scott and Jean were sent to Russia to track down they're missing teammate Colossus. They managed to find Colossus but realised he wasn't in any danger, he had in fact left the team because he felt left out, Scott convinced him to return to the X-Men.

Scott, along with Jean and Colossus soon arrived in Germany to help in the fight against Proteus whom they defeated.

Around the time of Jean’s hallucinatory relapses, the animosity between Scott and Logan reached a new height when Logan accused Scott of being responsable for these setbacks. After Professor Xavier stopped a fight between the two, he sent them on a mission to the Savage Land to find a group of missing marines, who were sent to dismantle Magneto’s place of its super-science. Charles Xavier hoped that by sending the two on this mission that they would be able to resolve their personal conflicts. Although Cyclops made an effort, Wolverine did not even bother to get along. Upon their arrival, Wolverine smelled that the marines were killed and dragged away. The trail led them five miles below the Savage Land. After they were outnumbered in a battle with some odd-looking men, Cyclops and Wolverine were then brought to the mastermind, who turned out to be the evolved computer, which ran Magneto’s city before it got destroyed by the Sentinels. Reanimating the dead bodies from the Sentinel-attack, the computer was able to rebuild itself, after which it gathered even more bodies and eventually it assimilated the soldiers. After it explained its plans to create a new species it was ready to kill Cyclops and Wolverine. But at that point Shadowcat, who secretly joined the two, showed up and phazed through the computer. After Shadowcat destroyed the computer, Cyclops and Wolverine fought what was left of the computer’s army. (Ultimate X-Men #22-24)

But Cyclops, Wolverine and Shadowcat were not out of the woods yet as the subterrean cave started to collapse. On their way out, the ground under Cyclops’ feet collapsed and Cyclops fell in a deep ravine, but luckily he was able to hold on to a piece of rock. Wolverine grabbed Cyclops’ arms and attempted to pull him up. But after he sent Shadowcat away in search of an exit, Wolverine let loose of his grip on Cyclops and let him fall. Kitty and Wolverine, who were convinced that Cyclops was dead, returned to the X-Men. Although most of the X-Men believed Wolverine’s story, Jean became quickly suspicious but Charles did not believe her. (Ultimate X-Men 29 – Ultimate War # 2-3)

Meanwhile, Scott laid badly injured at the bottom of the ravine. He was able to survive by eating roots, grubs and centipedes. And although Scott had hallucinations, he realised why Wolverine let him fall. Because Scott understood Wolverine’s plan to win back Jean, Scott was even determined to come out of this ordeal alive. Eventually, Scott was saved by Magneto’s men, who did not notice how Scott took his communicator with him. After Magneto was freed from Charles’ mind-blocks, he rebuilt a new place for him and his followers. Scott, who was not recognized by his saviors, was brought to the infirmary of Magneto’s Citadel. Around the time that Magneto was about to use his doomsday weapon to destroy the rest of the world, Cyclops was sufficiently recovered. Just as one of the medical staff recognized Cyclops, Cyclops came into action and defeated the medical staff. Cyclops used one of the still conscious men to get to Magneto. Just as Magneto was about to perform his plan, Cyclops shot him in the back. At first, Magneto was not worried about Cyclops, but when Cyclops showed him his communicator, Magneto became worried as the X-Men arrived at the exact same time. Magneto ordered his followers to attack the X-Men, but the X-Men outclassed them. After Colossus knocked off Magneto’s helmet, the X-Men defeated him in a joint effort. (Ultimate X-Men 29-31)

After the X-Men defeated Magneto, Scott faced Logan for his treachery. With a single optic blast, Scott injured Logan badly, after which Cyclops threw him off the team and left him behind. But not long after that, Cyclops went in search for Wolverine again. Once Cyclops found him in Canada, he apologized to Logan for kicking the crap out of him and explained to him that he wanted for Wolverine to finish his rehabilitation. Just before the two headed back to the Institute, Scott gave Wolverine a wedding ring with the name James engraved. (Ultimate X-Men #32-33)

Cyclops can release powerful concussive optic blasts from his eyes.

I wonder with Wolverine leaving him in the pit to die in the savage Land, will he change sides again and this time for good? He still manintains some the same qualities as he's 616 persona.
