Wolverine's Revenge looks great! Can't wait to get it.

The Next Dimension screenshots still look a little too..."in development". I hope that's the case, anyway. As it is, the Mutant Academy games have better graphics than what I'm seeing here. And hopefully they give us a the ability to choose their current costumes, as those are my favorites. Original costumes, expecially for the "original 5" would kick some ass, too.

Has anybody heard an exact number on how many playable characters there will be and who? (The arena in the 3rd screenshot makes me think, and hope, we'll be seeing Apocalypse in this one.)

They're great! The Next Dimension must be a promising new game.

And hopefully they give us a the ability to choose their current costumes, as those are my favorites.

I believe that they will because they said that you will be able to have up to three different outfits. Since they apparently start out in their Revolution costumes (probably because they're more colorful than the current ones), I'm sure you can also pick their current costumes and their classic ones. Plus, if you watch the trailer for the game at this site, http://www.universeofheroes.com/homepage.html , you can see Storm in her X-treme costume and Phoenix in her New X-men costume in some of the cinematic scenes. So it stands to reason that you'll be able to choose those costumes in the game.

Also, there are supposedly 20 characters in the game with 4 hidden ones. So far I've counted:

Wolverine
Phoenix
Storm
Cyclops
Beast
Nightcrawler
Forge
Havok
Rogue
Psylocke
Magneto
Sabretooth
Toad
Mystique
Lady Deathstrike
Juggernaut
a Sentinel
and Bastion

also, supposedly the Blob and Bishop are in the game.

That's only 20, however, so there are at least 4 more. I'm hoping that they put Iceman in this one, and maybe Colossus (though there are already plenty of "big guys" in this game with Juggernaut, Bishop, and the Blob). Cable, perhaps? Pyro? Archangel? Jubilee? So many good choices. I'm looking forward to finding out who these 4 other characters are when the game comes out.

looks fun, now i decide if I should get Mortal Kombat 5 or this one. I'll probably get both..... problem solved... I'm not really interested in the other game... Wolvie's Revenge or whatever, but oh well. I wish they'd come out with an X-Men game more lik Legend of Zelda and not so much like Batman Vengence. We'll see tho.

I'd assume Gambit would be in it, he was in like the first 2 Mutant Acd games. Plus he's on their title web page ;) But wahoo, at least Psylocke's on it:)

Hrm... but to play this I'd have to buy a PS2 :-/

It's on GameCube too...... I'm a GameCube fan I recommend that. ^_^

Man.. Looking at the fighting game, while it is OK and all... it's in serious need of some touching up! The Gamecube can do way, way better than that. It's going to look VERY flat compared to upcoming games if it is not changed..

I see that folk mention that the revolution costumes aren't the only ones, good.

I just hope that they are not simply hoping to make a lazy conversion of the older PSONE games and trade off the back of the X-Men license. While the first game was fun, it really could have used a lot more thought.

*sigh* Another Capcom X-Men game, with big comic-like graphics, loads of characters, and deep gameplay would have been great... :(

Even though X-Men Next Dimension is another fighting game, I think its going to be really good and much better than Mutant Academy because the characters can move in more directions and can continue through the different areas.

Also Jean seems to get much better attacks in this game than the previous two. If you dowload the Phoenix character movie from that site- it shows that she has cooler telepathic and telekinetic attacks as well as much better phoenix effects and attacks. And she can pick up 3-d objects in the areas with her tk and throw them at opponents. And one of the trailers shows her manifesting a huge phoenix effect.

And this site shows that Phoenix is on the box too.

Wolverine's Revenge looks Great too. About time for an adventure game. They just need to make one where you can play other characters besides Wolverine.

In response to Next Dimension...

This game looks like ABSOLUTE GARBAGE.

It doesn't even reach a fraction of next generation console power. I'd be ashamed to be producing this game.

Yea, Gamecube can do alot better, but that looks TOO bad to be final version material.

And I just wanna say...Forge? FORGE?! I like him and all but thanks for the most obscure character in a game ever.

I might rent Next Dimension, but I'm so sick of these character vs. character fighting games that I don't think I'll actually buy it.

Wolverines Revenge on the other hand looks like its going to be a great game. One I'm deffinently going to check out.

So do i assume correctly that these games will be avaliable on bothe PS2 and Gamecube.
If yes which one is better?

Neolithic
Jun 9, 2002, 03:52 am
Yeah, PS2 and Gamecube. I dunno about XBOX.

If you have both, I'd buy the Gamecube. It is able to produce slightly better looking games. Although this game is a port, which means it'll more than likely look the same. Gamecube will have lower load times though, if the game has them.

mikey and neo, did you even read the article? If you had, you would clearly have seen Xbox screenshots for Wolverine's Revenge.

Well excuse me, X-Fan. I don't own an XBox so I kind of skipped over the parts that didn't interest me.

I'll say it again...for those of you wondering, waiting, and hoping, there will be a new X-Men game that will be possibly an RPG/adventure type game with if I can remember correctly 20-30 hours of gameplay. Of all the games, I'm looking forward to that one the most. I heard this in a GamePro or some other of the 1,000 gaming magazines out there.

Anyone played Final Fantasy 10?

why dont they do some Final Fantasy style games i mean there a lot closer to the team takes on lots of baddies with strategy involved than one on one scraps.

Dont get me wrong what marvel characters do best is scrap and Marvel vs Capcom 2 is fantastic! I can do a 61 hit combo just with Psylocke with Spiral as her summon! its fantastic.

Dont u think Sage in FFX is really like Sage? #Imagine a FF style Xmen game of the Phoenix saga or Onslaught?!?!

Hello everyone. Tis my first post here. This is what I know about X-Men: Next Dimension. All of this I have gathered from the movies at Activision, other websites previewing the game, and knowledge of characters in the past games. The characters:

Pheonix
Cyclops
Wolverine
Beast
Mystique
Rogue
Gambit
Toad
Magneto
Storm
Lady Deathstrike
Sentinal Version 1
Sentinal Version 2
Juggernaut
SabreTooth
Havok
Nightcrawler
Forge

Those are all of the characters so far that I have heard of. I have also heard from several sources (i'll try to find the pages) that the X-Box version of the game will get 1 extra character over the PS2 and Gamecube versions. I will see what I can do to find those links.

Rex, check in the news forum here at X-Fan for details of the extra character in the Xbox version!

And stay tuned as there's lots to come on Next Dimension here at X-Fan, including an interview with the designers, a contest, and more!

I honestly...even though I know I will end up buying it lol, do think that the graphics on this are not very impresive at all. To compare it to Dead or Alive 2 or 3 is just wrong. This game doesnt look all that impresive but I guess we will have to wait and see how it turns out. I just hope it comes close to looking as Good as the RE remake....ahh cant I dream :D.

Thanks a lot X-Fan, i will. And, if I may say anything to anyone saying that this game has horrific graphics, i must disagree. First, this game is still in the works. Second of all, it is just a screenshot. Screenshots are never nearly as good as the game. If you would like to see the game with signifagantly better graphics, go to activision to see it in action.

Neolithic

A company would not release screenshots from an alpha phase. People will think "Of those screenshots looked horrible!" when they see the game again. Plus, the graphics look identical to the Playstation 1 game.

Perhaps I will rephrase the question, and this is not to be rude at all. Perhaps you should see the game in action at activision.com. If you see those videos, and you think they look like a Playstion game, I'll eat the blackbird.

Pyro's the extra character on the X-box version so what? if like Pyro was your absolute favourite character in the marvel universe ever would i consider buying an X-box.

I work for Sony in the Uk and X-box is doing awful and im not sayin that because im biased they really are. There sales figures were so bad they could not release them for fear of it giving the x-box worse publicity. Lets face it guys Bill Gates should stop trying to get his greedy hands on the console market all together and get back to his regular appearances in south park instead of getting Pyro to sell his damn X-boxes!

Anyway (deep Breath)

I went to ECTS at the weekend (its the british equivalent of E3) and "Xmen the next dimension" (what a corny name) was there. I walked past it three times without even noticing it. (probably because so many people were crowding round it!) and as soon as the guy playing put down his pad i ran up and snatched it and this huge crowd of people started yelling at me that there was a queue and i was like "oh yeah". So after 20 minutes of watching a Nightcrawler and Wolverine duke it out (in an egyption tomb, so you know who one of the bosses is)

I got my turn.

First of i noticed the character select screen and i nearly screamed when i saw SAGE....or so i thought sadly its a female sentinel so i was like "doh". Anyway i then noticed there were 2 Jean greys on the character select screen so i went up to the other one thinking oh its Madelyne Pryor and it turns out to be DARK PHOENIX! her character face is all purple and rotting anyway we only got 1 go so i had to pick my favourite Psylocke.

Anyway instantly there was something i didnt like they were calling her "Betsy" no codename! they werent calling Phoenix Jean or Wolvie Logan or James or whatever hes calling himself these days! well the game is only 80% complete so hopefully they will sort it out, is there anything marvel dont destroy of Psylockes>?

Then u get to choose your costume Psylocke has 5! i remember she had 4 in Xmen mutant academy 2 and her fifth is her X-treme out fit and she looks great my only complaint is her sprite is a little too stick thin and not as busty as her capcom counterpart. Her hair also even though it. flowed very nice it was all slicked back, more like a cape than hair, didnt have her usual side parting.

Anyway on with the fight. The guy i was fighting was a typical Wolverine scrub probably couldnt even name another X-man yet alone have read the comic, his sprite looked and moved really well in his New-Xmen outfit. We were fighting in the savage land and it was really spacious and cool. I did Psylockes super (the one where she pins them down with her powers and then beats them up) and it whacked Wolverine right off the cliff, you then get this wicked cutscene of the character slamming on the platform below and your character stomping down (which Psy wouldnt really do but it sounded so cool)

Anyway we carried on fighting on this really small ledge and we were slamming each other into the side of the cliff and then he smacked me off the edge and Betsy went flying into the lake below. poor Betsy at least the lake broke her floor.

We then carried on fighting in the water with splashes going every where, then the lake all went corrupt and bright pink which made everyone in the queue behind me laugh, oh well it is only 80% complete so hopefully they will sort out this and change Betsy to Psylocke.

In the end Wolverine beat me which really didnt make much sense, first of all i am an absolute players worst nightmare when i play as Psy (just check out my 62 hit combo movie for MVC2) but Wolverine was so much more powerful than me! i mean this guy was such a novice! i pulled off about 8 or 9 supers and only one of them hit, he pulled off 2 the whole fight and both times i was hit! all his punches and kicks had priority over mine so if we both jumped at each other and kicked he would always kick me down! I hope im wrong and its just my damaged pride.

I think they may have changed the combo system im hoping it was just the controls i was not used to because the old system was great.

All the super moves have been updated and look even cooler Wolverines one where he picks them up he now instead of cheaply spinning around he actually does a load of combo hits, and Psylockes pin them to the floor she flipped and jumped and it just all looked lovely, however her butterfly was missing replaced by a cloud of Jean grey style telekinetic energy making me think it was more than just her costume that had come from X-treme but she still had her knife throw and was manifesting a psy blade when smacking them. i couldnt for the life of me junction super in between bars and i died in round 3 mostly trying to activate her X-treme super where she Psy Knifes them in the face about twelve times and then boots them 15ft to the ground.

and that was that.

Lady Deathstrike i sadly only saw her character face but she looked really evil with black lips and hair and apart from Dark Phoenix there are 4 spaces left to fill one of whom is obviously Apocalypse.

Oh another cool thing is when you press up to pursue them into an air combo u get a tiny cut scene of your character looking up menacingly and leaping after them and the camera only focuses on you smacking on them in the air its not 2d at all.

and thats my first impression hope that all helped quench your appetites.

Sounds good, Psyguy. By the way, do you (or anyone else) have any idea when this game is coming out in the U.S.?
