"All right already! Yes we know you've probably heard the news: Bowen Designs licenses with Marvel are set to expire soon," stated Bowen. "How soon you ask? Here's the deal: the mini-bust license is set to expire December of 2002. From the time of this writing (January 2002) we're going to try and release about 20 more busts (after Silver Surfer). The full size statue license is set to expire March 2002 (Storm is the last in our full size series). The mini-statue license will expire in December 2003.

I gotta tell ya, it's been a good run. When I first started sculpting the mini-busts, people thought I was nuts. 'Who wants half a statue?' they would say to me. Now it seems that companies are multiplying like rabbits and snatching up every license that's not nailed down to produce these little suckers. I guess we must've done something right.

What's next? A little rest for God's sake! I've been sculpting for 15 years solid. It's been three years since I've had a vacation! Project-wise I'm looking forward to sculpting some original pieces and working with some independent creators. We're still working out the details, so we'll let you know when we can announce the actual projects.

Please visit our website at www.bowendesigns.com (http://www.bowendesigns.com/) or feel free to call our offices at (503) 786-0542.

Our sincere thanks to everyone who has purchased our stuff over the years."

That is just too bad. I have been looking forward to collecting some of those mini-busts for a while now, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I think I would be more content with collecting action figures, anyway. The top of my desk is covered with several different Marvel Comics action figures, most of them being from the Spider Man Classics toyline. Still, Randy Bowen has done some amazing work regarding Marvel mini-busts and other things of that sort. It will be sad to see him and Marvel part ways, and I would just like to wish Randy Bowen my best.

Take care, and just remember - you have a lot of sculptures to be proud of.
