Kol Skywalker is a descendant of famed Jedi Luke Skywalker and was a council member of the New Jedi Order. Being an heir to the Skywalker legacy, Kol was a role model, a master tactician and leader for many Jedi. During the time where the Empire and the Galactic Alliance were at peace, Kol went on a mission on behalf of the Jedi and worked alongside Imperial Agent Morrigan Corde. The two of them fell in love and married in secret. This union was known to only a few, including Kol’s brother Nat. Some time after the birth of their son Cade, Morrigan would leave her family to return to the Empire. Kol pleaded with her to stay, but Morrigan refuse, stating that his status and her background would cause complications with the Jedi and the Empire. With Nat’s help, Kol would raise Cade within the Jedi Order, going between both the temples on Coruscant and Ossus. Kol was Wolf Sazen’s master, who eventually became Cade’s teacher. Later on, Kol had Shado Vao as his Padawan.

Working with Nei Rin, a Yuuzhan Vong Shaper, Kol tested her people’s biotechnology on a barren area on Ossus, bringing new life to it. His experiment was a success and with the Alliance’s support, he and the Vong would repeat this on many other worlds. Calling this the Ossus Project, Kol hoped that this would restore the planets that were devastated by the Yuuzhan Vong’s invasion a century ago. Though the project started off well, things went downhill when the tested planets’ vegetation started to unnaturally deform and its inhabitants dying from abnormal bony growths. The Empire blamed the Vong for this, but Kol knew they were innocent. He was unable to prove it however, but he convinced the Alliance to support the Yuuzhan Vong. This outraged the Empire, which then declared war.

During what would be known as the Sith-Imperial War, the Jedi and the Alliance were able to hold off the Empire’s forces initially. When the One Sith made their presence known at this time, Kol then knew that it was they who sabotaged the Ossus Project. With the Alliance losing support to the Empire and Sith, the Jedi and their allies soon lost the war. In one final battle, the Sith staged an assault at the Ossus temple, forcing Kol and the Jedi to retreat and scatter. He and Wolf would fight off the attacking Sith and Stormtroopers, while Cade and Shado got the younglings to safety. Though Cade wanted to help his father in the fight, Kol had his son take the mortally wounded Wolf away. As Cade and the other Jedi escaped from Ossus, the Sith known as Darth Nihl continuously struck Kol with Force Lightning until the Jedi Master died. His body was later found by Nei Rin and was cremated in accordance with Jedi tradition. <img src="http://www.comixfan.com/xfan/images/headshots/dh/kolspirit.gif" align=right hspace=10 alt="Kol’s Force Spirit">

Seven years after his death, Kol appeared in spirit to Cade, who was a captive in the Sith Temple. He told his son that his special powers could break as well as heal. This new knowledge helped Cade flee from the Sith. He would later appear to Cade again on Iego, alongside Luke Skywalker’s Force Ghost. The two spirits tried to help Cade with his deathstick addiction and to warn him of coming events.
