Two days ago somewhere in the Milky Way, four survivors from Majesdane wait in their spaceship. They are Sergeant deHalle, her brother VaDanti, Lieutenant vaRikk and their General, and they are arguing about how to trail the Runaway Karolina Dean, who they see responsible for the destruction of their world and the death of seven billion of their people. Their light crystal is just enough to take them to Earth and back, but they are unsure if Karolina is still there. Finally they are able to get an energy reading from Karolina again, so they set a course for Earth to take Karolina face trial.
The Runaways are returning to Los Angeles. They can't go back to their old hideout at the tar pits and the girls are against camping, so Nico comes up with the idea of asking the Leapfrog if there are still any secure Pride locations left. It turns out that the Steins' old Malibu house is still unbreached, even though Chase thought his parents had sold the place. The kids want to check out the alarms first and it turns out that the house is filled with security daemons. The Runaways win the fight, but it causes enough noise and light to cause a visit from the neighbors. Xavin poses as a father of teenagers, whose family has just moved in, to deal with the situation.
In order to get money for basic living and to fix the damages caused by the fight, the team leader Nico has decided that Chase, the only one not underage, has to get a job. Luckily, the garage is full of motorcycles and cars, and Chase wants money for gas.
The next day the kids go to shopping at a mall, which amazes Klara, new to this time. Chase wants a job at KZIT radio channel, as the assistant of his favorite radio host, Val Rhymin. He goes there to bang their window, irritating the station manager Bob. Meanwhile, Val encourages his listeners to steal the mayor's chair, irritating Bob even more. Bob fires Val, who apparently does not believe this. Finally, Chase gets to talk to Val, who hires him after Chase tells how he wants to become like Val when he grows up. Meanwhile, Bob has a fit and falls down a window. Fortunately, the girls are down below and Klara saves the man by having palm trees grow enormously and catch him. Nico does not think that anyone saw them, but thinks it's better to go, just in case.
Back at the house, Chase and Nico argue about the man falling down under Chase's nose. Victor hears something and Karolina powers up unintentionally. The four Majesdana survivors then fire their way in, looking for Karolina.
