Artist Aaron Lopresti, whose most recent assignment was Marvel's Rogue X-Men Icons limited series, has several fill-in assignments lined up in the near future beginning with February's Uncanny X-Men #403.
"I am really excited about getting an opportunity to work on the X-Men," Lopresti told X-Fan in early December. "Knowing that 100,000 or more people will be seeing my work on a single issue is a real thrill. This is probably the highest profile project I have worked on at Marvel since my art has become tolerable and I feel as though I am doing my best work on it. (I'd better be!)"
"It has been a long time since I have had to draw a book that features so many characters on every page. It is a lot of work but very gratifying. The other nice thing is this story is part of a larger story arc that is important to continuity and not a throw away issue like a lot of fill-ins tend to be."
"Working on Joe {Casey}'s script has been fine," Lopresti added. "There are a variety of locations and characters which has kept the work entertaining. The story starts with Angel and Stacy X and moves on to a bunch of the old Gen X characters and then throws in Iceman and the Blob among others to keep things interesting."
"I thought Stacy X was a little to creepy looking so I 'babed' her up a bit. I may approach Iceman a little differently when he 'ices up' but I am only half way through the story right now so I haven't drawn him yet."
"I want to make sure I get a plug in for Ultimate X-Men #½ (available through Wizard) that I worked on with {writer} Geoff Johns and {inker} Danny Miki. It really turned out great and I am excited to see it in print. I really think the X-fans will like it."
"As far as the future goes, I will be doing more X fill-ins," said Lopresti. "I don't know how much I am supposed to be talking about them as of yet, but the storyline is going to be a blast to draw."
