At the Xavier Institute, Charles has a talk with Logan. But before Charles gets to talk about what is on his mind, his past romantic relationships come up when Charles reveals that his cat is named after one of his former girlfriends. Now that Mystique is added to Charles' list of Moira and Emma, Logan is rude enough to state how much Charles gets around for a guy stuck in a wheelchair. After this awkward moment, Charles addresses Ororo's and Logan's encounter with Deathstrike. Charles praises Logan for his restraint not to kill Deathstrike. But what Charles really wants to know is what kind of favor Logan did for Nick Fury, that would make Nick risk demotion for violating a treaty with Canada by bringing Deathstrike to the Triskelion. But all Logan tells him is, that it is a door that Charles does not want to open.
Elsewhere in the school, an angry Kitty enters the room, where Warren and Alison are making out. She asks them where Bobby is. After Alison tells her that he is downstairs, Kitty phazes through the floor but informs the couple that she wants to rip out Bobby's heart.
In the Danger Room, the X-Men are fighting Magneto. When Nightcrawler asks Storm why they are fighting Magneto for the tenth time that month, Storm reminds him that they got their butts kicked by Magneto in every previous training session. When Colossus states that he defeated Magneto last time, Storm tells him that Magneto is a tactical genius and that they will not be able to defeat him the same way twice. But Iceman agrees with Nightcrawler that they need to train on others now that Magneto is no longer a threat. At that point Kitty enters the Danger Room and angrily asks Bobby how long he has been e-mailing with his ex, Rogue. After Storm ends the training session, Peter wants to know if Bobby knows where Rogue is. But unfortunately, he only reveives short e-mails, in which Rogue does not reveal her whereabouts. Having answered Peter's question, Bobby confronts Kitty and accuses her of hacking his computer. But Kitty informs him that he accidentially sent an e-mail for Rogue to her as well. After Kitty reads a part of the e-mail, in which Bobby confesses his feelings for Rogue, she reminds him that he told her that he was over Rogue. When Bobby tells Kitty to lighten up and explains that he is sorting out his feelings for Rogue, Kitty gets upset because she feels as if he is only using her until Rogue comes back. In the end Kitty makes a decision of her own and breaks up with Bobby, after which she punches him in the chest.
From the control room, Scott tries to stop the fighting between the two as their on/off-relationship drives him insane. But Jean reminds him that they are just kids and that they are only feeling what they felt when they were their age. When Jean notices that Scott turns his head away, she asks him if he has dated before. Scott confesses that there was only one other time.
At the Academy of Tomorrow in Chicago, Illinois, Lorna Dane greets Roberto DaCosta, who received a plane ticket to come to the open house of the school. Roberto does not understand why he was asked as his grades suck. Lorna explains that grades are not eerything and that she has read the article the Times did on him. At that moment, Alex Summers, Lorna's boyfriend, joins them and suggests to give Roberto the tour. While they walk around, Roberto recognizes Doug Ramsey, who is the all-time Jeopardy champion. When Roberto asks them if Doug is a mutant as well, headmistress Emma Frost appears and explains that although Doug is not a mutant, that he is gifted. She continues by telling Roberto that her school does not only enlist mutants but all extraordinary young men and women. Emma confesses that she was impressed with Roberto's neighborhood watch program that he set up in Harlem. Roberto explains that he felt that it was his duty to protect his community while the X-Men, of whom he does not think much, travelled around the world. Emma reassures Roberto that her school is nothing like the Xavier Institute. Emma hopes to tear down walls between mutants and humans through education, instead of training her students to become soldiers. Now that they are
on the subject of the X-Men, Alex can not help himself and calls his brother Scott an uptight control freak.
Suddenly Jean-Paul Beaubier comes running towards them and tells Emma that there is a building on fire downtown. Immediately, Alex and Lorna follow Jean-Paul by car, leaving Roberto behind with Emma. When Roberto asks if he can join them, Emma tells him that he has to pass the Advanced Leadership Workshop before he can participate in off-campus community service missions.
When the three students arrive at the spot, the fire is already going through the rooftop. Although one of the firemen refers to them as being Frost's freaks, another one welcomes their backup. After Havok finds out that the fire was lit, he tells Northstar to search for the arsonist. To prevent the building from collapsing, Havok instructs Polaris to reinforce the building's steel underframe. But from the moment Polaris uses her powers, things start to go wrong. Suddenly a car gets lifted and crashes on the two firemen. It even gets worse when it seems that Polaris is losing control over her powers and every metal object starts to fly around, injuring people. Scared of what is happening, Polaris begs Havok to make it stop, even if it means that he has to kill her. With a single blast, Havok knocks Polaris unconsciously. When Northstar arrives back at the scene, he wants to know what happened but all Havok tells him to do is to get Emma.
While his plane flies over Genosha, Nick Fury receives a message from S.H.I.E.L.D.-commander Dugan. Dugan informs Fury of the incident with Polaris. Dugan admits that they do not know if Polaris will kill again when she regains consciousness. To Nick Fury, it is evident to put her in prison, but Dugan informs him that the only prison that can contain her, is already being occupied by Magneto.
At the Triskelion, Magneto is in his plastic prison, playing a game of chess and has just reached the point of 'check'.

In the Savage Land, Longshot is awaiting an attack of a pterodactylus. Just as the flying reptile opens its beak to grab Longshot, the latter throws a spear in it, after which the animal crashes dead on Longshot. At that moment the Scarlet Witch appears. After she introduces herself, Longshot asks her if her father, who is Longshot's hero, has sent her to save him. But the Scarlet Witch has to disappoint him and informs him that she is bringing him to justice for killing Lord Scheele. To Longshot this means that the rumors about Wanda helping the humans are true, but Wanda tells him that she only works for her own. Still, she wants to bring him in for he is no longer worthy of his freedom, after he killed the pterodactylus, which she helped raise. At that point, Longshot attacks and throws a couple of blades. To his surprise, the Scarlet Witch is able to evade his attack. When Longshot tells her that stuff always work out in his favor, the Scarlet Witch tells him that altering probabilities is her power as well. With a single attack of her own, the Scarlet Witch transforms Longshot into a cat, after which she contacts her boss Nick Fury. Because they caught him on neutral territory, they will not have to send him immediately back to Genosha. For the time being, he will be imprisoned at the Triskelion.
In Chicago, Illinois, Havok is angry with Emma Frost after she let S.H.I.E.L.D. take Polaris in custody. Polaris allegedly lost control over her powers and killed some firemen. When Havok angrily tries to convince Emma that Polaris has nothing to do with the incident, Emma reminds him of the dozen eyewitnesses. After Havok states that they are wrong, Emma loses her temper with him and tells him that she had to give up Polaris, otherwise they would all be arrested. After Emma gets a grip over herself again, Northstar asks her what S.H.I.E.L.D. is going to do with Polaris. Although Emma is convinced that they will help find out what caused the accident, Havok reminds her that this is the same government that built the Sentinels. While Emma tries to reassure Havok and Northstar by telling them that Nick Fury will look after her as he is a friend of hers, two strangers witness the conversation from a distance.
Four hours later, Lorna regains consciousness but is disorientated as to where she is. When Magneto tries to reassure her, Lorna is frightened at the sight of him and crawls into a corner of the prison cell. At that point, Lorna remembers what happened earlier on and is convinced that she is in hell now. When Magneto approaches her and touches her hair, Pietro warns him to get away from Lorna or else he will come down from the control room to snap his neck. But Magneto tells his son to calm down and that he was only going to invite Lorna to a game of chess.
At the Xavier Institute, Charles has a videoconference with Emma Frost, who has just informed him of what has happened to Lorna. Although Emma can not believe that S.H.I.E.L.D. would lock up Lorna with Magneto, Charles is certain of it because he knows that Magneto's cell is the only one that can contain the two. At long last, Emma now understands why Charles isolated his X-Men from the world. It was not to protect them from the world, but the world from them. The videoconference doen only end with Charles' promise to help Emma and Lorna but also with Emma's promise not to reveal to the world that Magneto is locked up at the Triskelion.
Later on at the Academy of Tomorrow, Alex and Doug Ramsey show Jean-Paul, Sam and Roberto a hacked version of the teleconference between Emma and Charles on the whereabouts of Lorna and Magneto. When Alex informs his friends that they are going to break out Lorna, Jean-Paul reminds him that the Triskelion is guarded by the Ultimates. But Alex is not intimidated by them. After Doug tells Alex that he is no use in the field because he is just a human, he promises to look for something that will exonerate Lorna. When Sam, who is afraid of being expelled, states that he will not participate either, Alex gets very angry with after which Sam agrees to help him. It does not take much convincing Roberto, who is not a student yet at the Academy, to join them.
At the Triskelion, Magneto tries to talk to Lorna and reveals the romantic relationship that Emma and Charles once had. When Lorna does not believe him because of the age difference between Emma and Charles, Magneto can understand Lorna as he thought the same thing back then. But Charles told him that Emma was unique case, just like everthing in life is gray for Charles. After Magneto makes the assumption that Emma teaches her students the same way of thinking as Charles, he states that he only believes in right or wrong.
At the McCoy Memorial Hall at the Xavier Institute, a new development forces Charles to reveal the identity of the mutant that was responsible for the incident in Chicago. When Scott hears Lorna's name, he utters his disbelief because he knows that Lorna has better control over her powers than anyone else. When Ororo asks him how he knows that, he reveals to Jean's surprise that Lorna is his ex-girlfriend. To make sure that his students stay on topic, Charles reveals that Scott's brother Alex and his friends are on their way to free Lorna from the Triskelion. Because time is urgent, Charles sends one part of the X-Men to stop Alex and his friends, while the other part has to form a last defense if the first team should proove to be unsuccessful. Because Nightcrawler and Colossus are off probation, Angel wants to help as well. When Dazzler reminds Charles that they have experience with freeing rightful accused murderers, he gives her a firm look and assures her that the world will suffer if a certain prisoner should escape.
At night in Chicago, Mystique and Forge are retrieving the multi-directional electromagnetic field generator, which really caused the incident the day before. When Forge asks her why they do not use the machine to break out Magneto, Mystique informs him that it is not as simple as when she broke out Forge earlier on. Besides Magneto has a master plan. Suddenly, the two get caught by a policewoman but Mystique kills her quickly by breaking her neck with a single kick.

While Scott is on his way to stop his brother from reaching the Triskelion, Jean enters his mind and summons his most vivid memory of his relationship with Lorna Dane. While he destroys the memory of him and Lorna making a heart out of a steel beam, he orders Jean to stay out of his past. But Jean does not understand why Scott never mentioned Lorna to her. Scott reveals that Lorna was the first other mutant, besides his brother, that he met. Because Scott was more into school than girls, Lorna eventually chose Alex, who was the exact opposite of Scott. But Jean wants to know if Scott's feelings for Lorna are still strong enough for him to break out Lorna himself. She wants to know because she wonders if that is the reason why Professor X sent him after his brother instead of to the Triskelion. But instead of answering the question, Scott wants her to tell him what the professor is thinking as she is the one who spends so much time in Charles' head. When Jean asks him what he means by that, he apologizes quickly and explains that he is worried what this situation will do to his already bad relationship with his brother. After Jean reassures him that he will take care of everything, she restates her love for him, after which he does the same
At the Triskelion, Longshot is personally escorted to his cell by Nick Fury. While Nick thanks the one for tipping S.H.I.E.L.D. off to Longshot's hiding spot, Longshot meets his neighbours Deathstrike and Mr. Sinister.
More downstairs, where according to Nick the real threats are kept, Lorna has just trapped Magneto's queen in a game of chess. When Lorna utters her conviction that he let her do that, Magneto uses a very serious voice to inform her that he has never lost a battle by choice. Suddenly Lorna lashes out at him as she is convinced that Magneto looks at the world as one big game, in which the humans are mere expendable pawns. But Magneto tells her that he only kills them for two reasons. One is because he wants the world to know that they will not surrender quietly and two out of love for those mutants, whose blood is spared that way. Although Magneto does not know if Lorna killed those civillians in Chicago by accident or not, he knows that she helped give the mutant community a longer life, as mutants will be feared once again. Bringing up the incident, Lorna starts to cry and swears that she did not mean to hurt them.
On their way to New York by car, Alex comes to the conclusion that they are lost. Roberto tries to explain to Alex that just because he is from New York, that it does not mean that he knows the way from Chicago to New York. Suddenly Nightcrawler teleports himself on the hood of the car, blocking Alex' view of the road. Just before Alex and his friends crash against a lamp-post, Nightcrawler teleports himself out of there. Luckily for Alex and his friends, the air-bags do their job so that none of them get seriously injured. After Storm asks why they had to wreck their car, Nightcrawler gives a short description of their opponents and their capabilities. The only one that they do not know is the first one who gets out of the car. After he introduces himself as Cannonball, he uses his mutant power to fly Wolverine out of the picture. While Nightcrawler goes after Wolverine, Cyclops orders Shadowcat to make their other opponents intangible before they can come around. But unfortunately Northstar has already regained consciousness and knocks out Shadowcat. While Northstar quickly grabs Shadowcat and lies her gently down on the ground, Storm prepares to attack him because she is convinced that he can not outrun lightning, but Northstar has back-up. With a single hit, Roberto takes out Storm. At that point Cyclops has had enough and takes out Roberto. Finally, Havok gets out of the car and the two brothers prepare themselves to battle eachother.
Meanwhile, Alison and Warren are heading in the same direction as the X-Men, although Professor X told them to stay out of this. But Alison pretends that they are on a date and that they can not help it if they should encounter trouble. Alison hopes that if they are able to catch Havok that the professor will let them play in heavy rotation again. Besides, Alison has the feeling that something bad is going to happen. But Alison is not too worried because in the worst case scenario the two of them will be kicked out of the Institute, after which she can reform her band Dazzler, in which Warren could become a new member.
Elsewhere, Havok launches his first attack but it does not hurt Cyclops, who reminds and shows his brother that their powers do jack to each other. When Havok attacks again, he uses a lug wrench and knocks Cyclops unconsciously. Northstar, who witnessed the attack, can not believe his eyes but Havok explains that Cyclops let him do it. Cyclops had to put on a good show for Professor X but in reality he wanted his brother to free Lorna as well. Leaving their friends behind, Northstar runs the last bit to the Triskelion, carrying Havok on his shoulder. At that moment Nightcrawler arrives back at the battlefield with Wolverine and an unconscious Cannonball.
On their way to the Triskelion, Northstar and Havok do not realise that they cross paths with Forge and Mystique. Although Forge wants Mystique to use the stolen police car to kill them before they ruin Magneto's plan, Mystique informs him that Northstar and Havok are the plan.
Meanwhile, Cyclops has come around and reports back to Marvel Girl of what happened. Although he will try to get to the Triskelion as soon as possible, it will take some time as they have both prisoners and wounded. But Marvel Girl assures him that Havok will not get past her, Colossus and Iceman. When Iceman tells Colossus that Northstar is heading their way, he is surprised by this news but Marvel Girl tells him that they will have to focus and have to keep them away from the Triskelion. At that same moment the Ultimates show up and tell them that they will take it from there.

In the library of the Academy of Tomorrow, Doug Ramsey is supposed to be reorganizing the library's catalog on the computer as punishment for not telling Emma about Havok's plans to break out Polaris from the Triskelion. Instead of doing that, Doug has been looking at the scanning footage of the traffic cameras around the time that the building was on fire. When he wants to show Emma what he has found, Emma informs him that she has seen every tape of that day. But to her surprise Doug tells her that he has gone through all the tapes of the last three days before the incident. Doug shows her an image in which Mystique and Forge are placing the device that actually caused the incident. Moments later Emma contacts Charles and informs him of Doug's discovery.
A little earlier at the Triskelion, Marvel Girl, Iceman and Colossus are told by the Ultimates to leave and to let them deal with Havok as the Triskelion is their jurisdiction. But Colossus does not trust them, seeing how quickly that they were to lock up Polaris. The Russian Black Widow tries to convince her countryman that the Ultimates can be trusted. But Iceman is not convinced because the Ultimates allowed Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch to join them. Although Quicksilver tries to reassure them that Polaris is receiving excellent care, he accidentially tells the X-Men that Polaris shares her cell with Magneto. Shocked to find out about the whereabouts of both Magneto and Polaris, the X-Men begin to wonder what else Professor X keeps hidden from them.
On their way to the Triskelion, Havok asks Northstar if he will be able to run over the water to reach the Triskelion. Northstar is confident that he can but he worries that he might get hit while crossing it. Havok reassures him that he has studied the Ultimates' moves and that he has found some vulnerabilities. And if they are lucky, they can play the X-Men out against the Ultimates.
At the Triskelion, Polaris has defeated Magneto for the first time after only eleven games of chess. Magneto is impressed by her strategical insight and wonders why Havok was chosen as class president over her. After their latest game, Magneto informs Lorna that he is about to leave his cell and he even utters his desire for her to join him. When Polaris tells him that she can not go with him, he confronts her with the torture that she will have to undergo if she stays. If she should decide to go with him, he will make her a leader in his Brotherhood. Although Lorna states that she is not like him, he informs her that they need each other. But Lorna gives him her definitive answer by telling him how retarded the name Magneto sounds. While Magneto comes nearer, he picks up one of the chairs. When Lorna reminds him that Quicksilver is keeping an eye on them, Magneto informs her that he is probably occupied with something else. With one hit of the chair, Lorna is knocked unconsciously.
Outside the Triskelion, the X-Men and the Ultimates hear a sonic boom and before they know it, Northstar takes out Quicksilver. Although the X-Men notice that Northstar has become much quicker, Iceman takes a shot at him but unfortunately he puts Captain America on ice. As an immediate response to this, the Wasp zaps Iceman. On her turn Marvel Girl takes out the Wasp, after which the Scarlet Witch teleports Marvel Girl to New Jersey.
Meanwhile, Mystique and Forge have already reached the Triskelion. In a joint effort the two will try to get to their leader Magneto. While Forge uses a smaller version of his electromagnetic field generator to take out the security systems, Mystique takes care of the guards.
Across the water, Colossus grabs the Scarlet Witch to find out what she did to Marvel Girl. Just as the Black Widow and Iron Man come to their teammate's rescue, Havok appears and with a single blast he takes out the two Ultimates.
Just at the same moment, Angel and Dazzler fly over and see Havok's enormous blast. Although Angel wants to help Havok, Dazzler understands Havok's plan and asks Angel to look at what is happening at the Triskelion. With his enhanced sight, Angel sees how Forge and Mystique are entering the prison. Strangely enough, Dazzler is the one who is cautious and who wonders if they should not warn the Professor. But Angel decides for the two of them to go after Magneto's henchmen.
Back across the water, Colossus still holds the Scarlet Witch in a firm grip. The Scarlet Witch tells Havok, Northstar and Colossus that they will go to prison for damaging the expensive armors of Iron Man and the Black Widow. But Havok is not interested in the price tag of the armors, only in the fact that his girlfriend is locked away with the Scarlet Witch's father. Even Colossus warns Havok that he will go to prison if he does not surrender now. When Havok tells Colossus to start thinking for himself, Northstar supports Havok and asks Colossus to help them. In a moment of indecidedness on Colossus' part, the Scarlet Witch powers up but before she can act, Havok uses his power to knock out both the Scarlet Witch and Colossus.
Back inside the Triskelion, Mystique and Forge are finally able to open Magneto's cell. Although Mystique has taken on another form, Magneto still recognizes her. When Magneto asks how it went to get inside, his two henchmen state that it was no problem, but warn him that getting out will be trickier. While Magneto informs the two that he will take care of it, he grabs the unconscious Polaris and takes her with him.
Elsewhere in the prison, Angel and Dazzler have arrived at the floor where Deathstrike's cell is. When Dazzler recognizes Deathstrike and mentions Ororo's name, Deathstrike threatens to kill them. Suddenly Dazzler's piercings are being ripped out. Only a few moments later, various explosions occur after which the power falls out. With one of her prolonged fingers, a now free Deathstrike pierces through Dazzler.

Inside the Triskelion Mystique is amused when she thinks off Charles' possible reaction when he will find out that they have freed every prisoner in the Triskelion. When Magneto hears Mystique talking about Charles like that, he wonders if she is helping him out of respect for him or out of hatred for Charles. But to Mystique it is obvious that Charles has a sick mind, which they all got to know at one point. Magneto then moves on, because this is not about Charles, and asks Mystique if she is ready to make the ultimate sacrifice. After Mystique hesitatingly tells him that she is, Magneto says goodbye.
Elsewhere inside the Triskelion, Angel screams for help after Deathstrike struck Dazzler with one of her prolonged fingers. When Deathstrike informs him that Fury will probably not come to his rescue, Longshot suddenly appears from behind and puts his hand on her mounth. With a quick twist, he breaks her neck. Longshot tells him that he owned them one fom the time that they helped him escape from the island of Krakoa. After Angel flies away with Dazzler, Mister Sinister tells Longshot that death is only one more stage of evolution for those who pledge allegiance to Lord Apocalypse. Just after Longshot threatens to kill him, something or someone from behind him draws his attention.
Outside the Triskelion, Northstar and Havok have crossed the water. After Northstar runs up the prison's wall, he reaches the rooftop, where they come face to face with Magneto and Forge. In Forge's arms lies the unconscious Polaris. Before Northstar knows it, Magneto wraps him in a couple of steel plates. When Havok powers up and demands that they let go of Northstar, Magneto threatens to snap Polaris' neck. Just as Magneto grabs Havok by the neck, the X-Men arrive in the X-Wing. Marvel Girl uses her psychic powers on him but Magneto can resist her powers thanks to the helmet that he is wearing. With the arrival of the X-Men, Forge starts to worry but Magneto tells him to calm himself and states that they will be fine, just as long as they have his machine, on which Magneto has been putting his hand ever since.
Suddenly Magneto uses his powers to pop out Wolverine's claws, which the X-Men thought was impossible as Beast had shielded the X-Wing from Magneto's powers. Just after Storm makes the assumption that Magneto is using a different wave frequency, the X-Wing gets totally disassembled.
Marvel Girl is able to grab Cyclops while Nightcrawler teleports himself to safety. Although Storm has grabbed Wolverine, he tells her to drop him so that she can go after Shadowcat, who would not be able to survive the fall. Just in time, Shadowcat is saved but instead of Storm, it is Iceman who catches her. From that point, all the X-Men head for Magneto and Forge.
After their arrival, Cyclops orders Shadowcat to free Northstar from his metal prison. Meanwhile Storm has to deal with any remaining, flying scrapnell. When Cyclops tells Nightcrawler to free Polaris, his brother orders him to stop, because he is convinced that Magneto and Forge will kill her. But Marvel Girl has already taken control of Forge. Last but not least, Cyclops is ready to make his move. Although Magneto still threatens to kill Havok, Havok smiles as he knows what is about to happen. After Cyclops blasts at both his brother and Magneto, it is only Magneto who gets hit. Due to the blast Magneto knocks his head against a wall and loses consciousness.
Finally Havok and Polaris are reunited. Although Cyclops does not want to admit it, Marvel Girl senses that he is still a bit jealous. But the joyous reunion with his girlfriend is cut short when Nick Fury arrives. Nick is not only there to arrest Magneto and Forge but also a third fellon. Immediately Lorna assumes that she has to go back but she refuses to be locked up again with Magneto. After Scott comes to her defense and states that she is innocent, Nick informs them that he already knows that. Then he reveals that he has come for Alex, because S.H.I.E.L.D. lost an entire platoon to contain the prison riot while Alex kept the Ultimates busy. For this, Alex is sentenced a lifetime stay at Camp X-Factor. Just in time Wolverine reaches the rooftop, after his fall into the water. Wolverine tells Nick that it was Magneto who caused him his platoon. Wolverine even dares to blame Nick for imprisoning Lorna with Magneto before he had all the facts about the incident. To make sure that Nick will let them all go, Wolverine blackmails him by threatening to reveal the secret mission that Wolverine once did for Nick.
After Nick ends S.H.I.E.L.D.'s relationship with the X-Men and states that they are enemies from now on, Warren finally reaches the rooftop with the badly injured Alison in his arms.
One week later at the Westchester General Hospital, Alison is still in a coma. Charles tries to comfort Warren and informs him that there is still a chance that she will come out of it. Warren confesses that it was his fault and that he will understand if Charles would decide to expel him from the Institute. Although Charles has no other choice than to expel him, he wants Warren to become one of his secret operatives, whom he occassionly uses in delicate situations. He wants Warren to go undercover in the Academy of Tomorrow. Warren agrees to this but only if Charles allows Alison back to the school after she wakes up. Charles gives him his word.
Some time after Warren has left the Institute, Kurt overhears a conversation between Peter and Jean-Paul Beaubier. After Peter finishes, he tells Kurt that Jean-Paul has asked him to go to Homecoming with him. Finally Kurt realises that Peter really is gay. Not knowing what to say, Kurt teleports away. At that point a changed Rogue enters the room.
At the Triskelion, Magneto receives a visit from Emma Frost, who threatens to make him suffer if he or any of his henchmen dare to come near one of her students again. She even underlines the fact that she is not against the death penalty. Emma feels the need to remind Magneto that his plan to escape has failt completely as all the prisoners but one are locked up again. After Magneto turns his head away from the camera and Emma, his eyes turn yellow.
Elsewhere, Longshot and the real Magneto are walking through the sewers. After Longshot understands that Mystique took Magneto's place in the Triskelion, he does not understand how Mystique could fake his magnetic powers. Magneto explains that Forge's electromagnetic field generator came in handy to accomplish that . Magneto even confesses that it were his agents, who tipped off S.H.I.E.L.D. about Longshot's whereabouts in the Savage Land. When Longshot asks him about his future plans, Magneto replies that it is time for something new.

At the Xavier Institute, Charles has a talk with Logan. But before Charles gets to talk about what is on his mind, his past romantic relationships come up when Charles reveals that his cat is named after one of his former girlfriends. Now that Mystique is added to Charles' list of Moira and Emma, Logan is rude enough to state how much Charles gets around for a guy stuck in a wheelchair. After this awkward moment, Charles addresses Ororo's and Logan's encounter with Deathstrike. Charles praises Logan for his restraint not to kill Deathstrike. But what Charles really wants to know is what kind of favor Logan did for Nick Fury, that would make Nick risk demotion for violating a treaty with Canada by bringing Deathstrike to the Triskelion. But all Logan tells him is, that it is a door that Charles does not want to open.
Elsewhere in the school, an angry Kitty enters the room, where Warren and Alison are making out. She asks them where Bobby is. After Alison tells her that he is downstairs, Kitty phazes through the floor but informs the couple that she wants to rip out Bobby's heart.
In the Danger Room, the X-Men are fighting Magneto. When Nightcrawler asks Storm why they are fighting Magneto for the tenth time that month, Storm reminds him that they got their butts kicked by Magneto in every previous training session. When Colossus states that he defeated Magneto last time, Storm tells him that Magneto is a tactical genius and that they will not be able to defeat him the same way twice. But Iceman agrees with Nightcrawler that they need to train on others now that Magneto is no longer a threat. At that point Kitty enters the Danger Room and angrily asks Bobby how long he has been e-mailing with his ex, Rogue. After Storm ends the training session, Peter wants to know if Bobby knows where Rogue is. But unfortunately, he only reveives short e-mails, in which Rogue does not reveal her whereabouts. Having answered Peter's question, Bobby confronts Kitty and accuses her of hacking his computer. But Kitty informs him that he accidentially sent an e-mail for Rogue to her as well. After Kitty reads a part of the e-mail, in which Bobby confesses his feelings for Rogue, she reminds him that he told her that he was over Rogue. When Bobby tells Kitty to lighten up and explains that he is sorting out his feelings for Rogue, Kitty gets upset because she feels as if he is only using her until Rogue comes back. In the end Kitty makes a decision of her own and breaks up with Bobby, after which she punches him in the chest.
From the control room, Scott tries to stop the fighting between the two as their on/off-relationship drives him insane. But Jean reminds him that they are just kids and that they are only feeling what they felt when they were their age. When Jean notices that Scott turns his head away, she asks him if he has dated before. Scott confesses that there was only one other time.
At the Academy of Tomorrow in Chicago, Illinois, Lorna Dane greets Roberto DaCosta, who received a plane ticket to come to the open house of the school. Roberto does not understand why he was asked as his grades suck. Lorna explains that grades are not eerything and that she has read the article the Times did on him. At that moment, Alex Summers, Lorna's boyfriend, joins them and suggests to give Roberto the tour. While they walk around, Roberto recognizes Doug Ramsey, who is the all-time Jeopardy champion. When Roberto asks them if Doug is a mutant as well, headmistress Emma Frost appears and explains that although Doug is not a mutant, that he is gifted. She continues by telling Roberto that her school does not only enlist mutants but all extraordinary young men and women. Emma confesses that she was impressed with Roberto's neighborhood watch program that he set up in Harlem. Roberto explains that he felt that it was his duty to protect his community while the X-Men, of whom he does not think much, travelled around the world. Emma reassures Roberto that her school is nothing like the Xavier Institute. Emma hopes to tear down walls between mutants and humans through education, instead of training her students to become soldiers. Now that they are
on the subject of the X-Men, Alex can not help himself and calls his brother Scott an uptight control freak.
Suddenly Jean-Paul Beaubier comes running towards them and tells Emma that there is a building on fire downtown. Immediately, Alex and Lorna follow Jean-Paul by car, leaving Roberto behind with Emma. When Roberto asks if he can join them, Emma tells him that he has to pass the Advanced Leadership Workshop before he can participate in off-campus community service missions.
When the three students arrive at the spot, the fire is already going through the rooftop. Although one of the firemen refers to them as being Frost's freaks, another one welcomes their backup. After Havok finds out that the fire was lit, he tells Northstar to search for the arsonist. To prevent the building from collapsing, Havok instructs Polaris to reinforce the building's steel underframe. But from the moment Polaris uses her powers, things start to go wrong. Suddenly a car gets lifted and crashes on the two firemen. It even gets worse when it seems that Polaris is losing control over her powers and every metal object starts to fly around, injuring people. Scared of what is happening, Polaris begs Havok to make it stop, even if it means that he has to kill her. With a single blast, Havok knocks Polaris unconsciously. When Northstar arrives back at the scene, he wants to know what happened but all Havok tells him to do is to get Emma.
While his plane flies over Genosha, Nick Fury receives a message from S.H.I.E.L.D.-commander Dugan. Dugan informs Fury of the incident with Polaris. Dugan admits that they do not know if Polaris will kill again when she regains consciousness. To Nick Fury, it is evident to put her in prison, but Dugan informs him that the only prison that can contain her, is already being occupied by Magneto.
At the Triskelion, Magneto is in his plastic prison, playing a game of chess and has just reached the point of 'check'.

In the Savage Land, Longshot is awaiting an attack of a pterodactylus. Just as the flying reptile opens its beak to grab Longshot, the latter throws a spear in it, after which the animal crashes dead on Longshot. At that moment the Scarlet Witch appears. After she introduces herself, Longshot asks her if her father, who is Longshot's hero, has sent her to save him. But the Scarlet Witch has to disappoint him and informs him that she is bringing him to justice for killing Lord Scheele. To Longshot this means that the rumors about Wanda helping the humans are true, but Wanda tells him that she only works for her own. Still, she wants to bring him in for he is no longer worthy of his freedom, after he killed the pterodactylus, which she helped raise. At that point, Longshot attacks and throws a couple of blades. To his surprise, the Scarlet Witch is able to evade his attack. When Longshot tells her that stuff always work out in his favor, the Scarlet Witch tells him that altering probabilities is her power as well. With a single attack of her own, the Scarlet Witch transforms Longshot into a cat, after which she contacts her boss Nick Fury. Because they caught him on neutral territory, they will not have to send him immediately back to Genosha. For the time being, he will be imprisoned at the Triskelion.
In Chicago, Illinois, Havok is angry with Emma Frost after she let S.H.I.E.L.D. take Polaris in custody. Polaris allegedly lost control over her powers and killed some firemen. When Havok angrily tries to convince Emma that Polaris has nothing to do with the incident, Emma reminds him of the dozen eyewitnesses. After Havok states that they are wrong, Emma loses her temper with him and tells him that she had to give up Polaris, otherwise they would all be arrested. After Emma gets a grip over herself again, Northstar asks her what S.H.I.E.L.D. is going to do with Polaris. Although Emma is convinced that they will help find out what caused the accident, Havok reminds her that this is the same government that built the Sentinels. While Emma tries to reassure Havok and Northstar by telling them that Nick Fury will look after her as he is a friend of hers, two strangers witness the conversation from a distance.
Four hours later, Lorna regains consciousness but is disorientated as to where she is. When Magneto tries to reassure her, Lorna is frightened at the sight of him and crawls into a corner of the prison cell. At that point, Lorna remembers what happened earlier on and is convinced that she is in hell now. When Magneto approaches her and touches her hair, Pietro warns him to get away from Lorna or else he will come down from the control room to snap his neck. But Magneto tells his son to calm down and that he was only going to invite Lorna to a game of chess.
At the Xavier Institute, Charles has a videoconference with Emma Frost, who has just informed him of what has happened to Lorna. Although Emma can not believe that S.H.I.E.L.D. would lock up Lorna with Magneto, Charles is certain of it because he knows that Magneto's cell is the only one that can contain the two. At long last, Emma now understands why Charles isolated his X-Men from the world. It was not to protect them from the world, but the world from them. The videoconference doen only end with Charles' promise to help Emma and Lorna but also with Emma's promise not to reveal to the world that Magneto is locked up at the Triskelion.
Later on at the Academy of Tomorrow, Alex and Doug Ramsey show Jean-Paul, Sam and Roberto a hacked version of the teleconference between Emma and Charles on the whereabouts of Lorna and Magneto. When Alex informs his friends that they are going to break out Lorna, Jean-Paul reminds him that the Triskelion is guarded by the Ultimates. But Alex is not intimidated by them. After Doug tells Alex that he is no use in the field because he is just a human, he promises to look for something that will exonerate Lorna. When Sam, who is afraid of being expelled, states that he will not participate either, Alex gets very angry with after which Sam agrees to help him. It does not take much convincing Roberto, who is not a student yet at the Academy, to join them.
At the Triskelion, Magneto tries to talk to Lorna and reveals the romantic relationship that Emma and Charles once had. When Lorna does not believe him because of the age difference between Emma and Charles, Magneto can understand Lorna as he thought the same thing back then. But Charles told him that Emma was unique case, just like everthing in life is gray for Charles. After Magneto makes the assumption that Emma teaches her students the same way of thinking as Charles, he states that he only believes in right or wrong.
At the McCoy Memorial Hall at the Xavier Institute, a new development forces Charles to reveal the identity of the mutant that was responsible for the incident in Chicago. When Scott hears Lorna's name, he utters his disbelief because he knows that Lorna has better control over her powers than anyone else. When Ororo asks him how he knows that, he reveals to Jean's surprise that Lorna is his ex-girlfriend. To make sure that his students stay on topic, Charles reveals that Scott's brother Alex and his friends are on their way to free Lorna from the Triskelion. Because time is urgent, Charles sends one part of the X-Men to stop Alex and his friends, while the other part has to form a last defense if the first team should proove to be unsuccessful. Because Nightcrawler and Colossus are off probation, Angel wants to help as well. When Dazzler reminds Charles that they have experience with freeing rightful accused murderers, he gives her a firm look and assures her that the world will suffer if a certain prisoner should escape.
At night in Chicago, Mystique and Forge are retrieving the multi-directional electromagnetic field generator, which really caused the incident the day before. When Forge asks her why they do not use the machine to break out Magneto, Mystique informs him that it is not as simple as when she broke out Forge earlier on. Besides Magneto has a master plan. Suddenly, the two get caught by a policewoman but Mystique kills her quickly by breaking her neck with a single kick.

While Scott is on his way to stop his brother from reaching the Triskelion, Jean enters his mind and summons his most vivid memory of his relationship with Lorna Dane. While he destroys the memory of him and Lorna making a heart out of a steel beam, he orders Jean to stay out of his past. But Jean does not understand why Scott never mentioned Lorna to her. Scott reveals that Lorna was the first other mutant, besides his brother, that he met. Because Scott was more into school than girls, Lorna eventually chose Alex, who was the exact opposite of Scott. But Jean wants to know if Scott's feelings for Lorna are still strong enough for him to break out Lorna himself. She wants to know because she wonders if that is the reason why Professor X sent him after his brother instead of to the Triskelion. But instead of answering the question, Scott wants her to tell him what the professor is thinking as she is the one who spends so much time in Charles' head. When Jean asks him what he means by that, he apologizes quickly and explains that he is worried what this situation will do to his already bad relationship with his brother. After Jean reassures him that he will take care of everything, she restates her love for him, after which he does the same
At the Triskelion, Longshot is personally escorted to his cell by Nick Fury. While Nick thanks the one for tipping S.H.I.E.L.D. off to Longshot's hiding spot, Longshot meets his neighbours Deathstrike and Mr. Sinister.
More downstairs, where according to Nick the real threats are kept, Lorna has just trapped Magneto's queen in a game of chess. When Lorna utters her conviction that he let her do that, Magneto uses a very serious voice to inform her that he has never lost a battle by choice. Suddenly Lorna lashes out at him as she is convinced that Magneto looks at the world as one big game, in which the humans are mere expendable pawns. But Magneto tells her that he only kills them for two reasons. One is because he wants the world to know that they will not surrender quietly and two out of love for those mutants, whose blood is spared that way. Although Magneto does not know if Lorna killed those civillians in Chicago by accident or not, he knows that she helped give the mutant community a longer life, as mutants will be feared once again. Bringing up the incident, Lorna starts to cry and swears that she did not mean to hurt them.
On their way to New York by car, Alex comes to the conclusion that they are lost. Roberto tries to explain to Alex that just because he is from New York, that it does not mean that he knows the way from Chicago to New York. Suddenly Nightcrawler teleports himself on the hood of the car, blocking Alex' view of the road. Just before Alex and his friends crash against a lamp-post, Nightcrawler teleports himself out of there. Luckily for Alex and his friends, the air-bags do their job so that none of them get seriously injured. After Storm asks why they had to wreck their car, Nightcrawler gives a short description of their opponents and their capabilities. The only one that they do not know is the first one who gets out of the car. After he introduces himself as Cannonball, he uses his mutant power to fly Wolverine out of the picture. While Nightcrawler goes after Wolverine, Cyclops orders Shadowcat to make their other opponents intangible before they can come around. But unfortunately Northstar has already regained consciousness and knocks out Shadowcat. While Northstar quickly grabs Shadowcat and lies her gently down on the ground, Storm prepares to attack him because she is convinced that he can not outrun lightning, but Northstar has back-up. With a single hit, Roberto takes out Storm. At that point Cyclops has had enough and takes out Roberto. Finally, Havok gets out of the car and the two brothers prepare themselves to battle eachother.
Meanwhile, Alison and Warren are heading in the same direction as the X-Men, although Professor X told them to stay out of this. But Alison pretends that they are on a date and that they can not help it if they should encounter trouble. Alison hopes that if they are able to catch Havok that the professor will let them play in heavy rotation again. Besides, Alison has the feeling that something bad is going to happen. But Alison is not too worried because in the worst case scenario the two of them will be kicked out of the Institute, after which she can reform her band Dazzler, in which Warren could become a new member.
Elsewhere, Havok launches his first attack but it does not hurt Cyclops, who reminds and shows his brother that their powers do jack to each other. When Havok attacks again, he uses a lug wrench and knocks Cyclops unconsciously. Northstar, who witnessed the attack, can not believe his eyes but Havok explains that Cyclops let him do it. Cyclops had to put on a good show for Professor X but in reality he wanted his brother to free Lorna as well. Leaving their friends behind, Northstar runs the last bit to the Triskelion, carrying Havok on his shoulder. At that moment Nightcrawler arrives back at the battlefield with Wolverine and an unconscious Cannonball.
On their way to the Triskelion, Northstar and Havok do not realise that they cross paths with Forge and Mystique. Although Forge wants Mystique to use the stolen police car to kill them before they ruin Magneto's plan, Mystique informs him that Northstar and Havok are the plan.
Meanwhile, Cyclops has come around and reports back to Marvel Girl of what happened. Although he will try to get to the Triskelion as soon as possible, it will take some time as they have both prisoners and wounded. But Marvel Girl assures him that Havok will not get past her, Colossus and Iceman. When Iceman tells Colossus that Northstar is heading their way, he is surprised by this news but Marvel Girl tells him that they will have to focus and have to keep them away from the Triskelion. At that same moment the Ultimates show up and tell them that they will take it from there.

In the library of the Academy of Tomorrow, Doug Ramsey is supposed to be reorganizing the library's catalog on the computer as punishment for not telling Emma about Havok's plans to break out Polaris from the Triskelion. Instead of doing that, Doug has been looking at the scanning footage of the traffic cameras around the time that the building was on fire. When he wants to show Emma what he has found, Emma informs him that she has seen every tape of that day. But to her surprise Doug tells her that he has gone through all the tapes of the last three days before the incident. Doug shows her an image in which Mystique and Forge are placing the device that actually caused the incident. Moments later Emma contacts Charles and informs him of Doug's discovery.
A little earlier at the Triskelion, Marvel Girl, Iceman and Colossus are told by the Ultimates to leave and to let them deal with Havok as the Triskelion is their jurisdiction. But Colossus does not trust them, seeing how quickly that they were to lock up Polaris. The Russian Black Widow tries to convince her countryman that the Ultimates can be trusted. But Iceman is not convinced because the Ultimates allowed Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch to join them. Although Quicksilver tries to reassure them that Polaris is receiving excellent care, he accidentially tells the X-Men that Polaris shares her cell with Magneto. Shocked to find out about the whereabouts of both Magneto and Polaris, the X-Men begin to wonder what else Professor X keeps hidden from them.
On their way to the Triskelion, Havok asks Northstar if he will be able to run over the water to reach the Triskelion. Northstar is confident that he can but he worries that he might get hit while crossing it. Havok reassures him that he has studied the Ultimates' moves and that he has found some vulnerabilities. And if they are lucky, they can play the X-Men out against the Ultimates.
At the Triskelion, Polaris has defeated Magneto for the first time after only eleven games of chess. Magneto is impressed by her strategical insight and wonders why Havok was chosen as class president over her. After their latest game, Magneto informs Lorna that he is about to leave his cell and he even utters his desire for her to join him. When Polaris tells him that she can not go with him, he confronts her with the torture that she will have to undergo if she stays. If she should decide to go with him, he will make her a leader in his Brotherhood. Although Lorna states that she is not like him, he informs her that they need each other. But Lorna gives him her definitive answer by telling him how retarded the name Magneto sounds. While Magneto comes nearer, he picks up one of the chairs. When Lorna reminds him that Quicksilver is keeping an eye on them, Magneto informs her that he is probably occupied with something else. With one hit of the chair, Lorna is knocked unconsciously.
Outside the Triskelion, the X-Men and the Ultimates hear a sonic boom and before they know it, Northstar takes out Quicksilver. Although the X-Men notice that Northstar has become much quicker, Iceman takes a shot at him but unfortunately he puts Captain America on ice. As an immediate response to this, the Wasp zaps Iceman. On her turn Marvel Girl takes out the Wasp, after which the Scarlet Witch teleports Marvel Girl to New Jersey.
Meanwhile, Mystique and Forge have already reached the Triskelion. In a joint effort the two will try to get to their leader Magneto. While Forge uses a smaller version of his electromagnetic field generator to take out the security systems, Mystique takes care of the guards.
Across the water, Colossus grabs the Scarlet Witch to find out what she did to Marvel Girl. Just as the Black Widow and Iron Man come to their teammate's rescue, Havok appears and with a single blast he takes out the two Ultimates.
Just at the same moment, Angel and Dazzler fly over and see Havok's enormous blast. Although Angel wants to help Havok, Dazzler understands Havok's plan and asks Angel to look at what is happening at the Triskelion. With his enhanced sight, Angel sees how Forge and Mystique are entering the prison. Strangely enough, Dazzler is the one who is cautious and who wonders if they should not warn the Professor. But Angel decides for the two of them to go after Magneto's henchmen.
Back across the water, Colossus still holds the Scarlet Witch in a firm grip. The Scarlet Witch tells Havok, Northstar and Colossus that they will go to prison for damaging the expensive armors of Iron Man and the Black Widow. But Havok is not interested in the price tag of the armors, only in the fact that his girlfriend is locked away with the Scarlet Witch's father. Even Colossus warns Havok that he will go to prison if he does not surrender now. When Havok tells Colossus to start thinking for himself, Northstar supports Havok and asks Colossus to help them. In a moment of indecidedness on Colossus' part, the Scarlet Witch powers up but before she can act, Havok uses his power to knock out both the Scarlet Witch and Colossus.
Back inside the Triskelion, Mystique and Forge are finally able to open Magneto's cell. Although Mystique has taken on another form, Magneto still recognizes her. When Magneto asks how it went to get inside, his two henchmen state that it was no problem, but warn him that getting out will be trickier. While Magneto informs the two that he will take care of it, he grabs the unconscious Polaris and takes her with him.
Elsewhere in the prison, Angel and Dazzler have arrived at the floor where Deathstrike's cell is. When Dazzler recognizes Deathstrike and mentions Ororo's name, Deathstrike threatens to kill them. Suddenly Dazzler's piercings are being ripped out. Only a few moments later, various explosions occur after which the power falls out. With one of her prolonged fingers, a now free Deathstrike pierces through Dazzler.

Inside the Triskelion Mystique is amused when she thinks off Charles' possible reaction when he will find out that they have freed every prisoner in the Triskelion. When Magneto hears Mystique talking about Charles like that, he wonders if she is helping him out of respect for him or out of hatred for Charles. But to Mystique it is obvious that Charles has a sick mind, which they all got to know at one point. Magneto then moves on, because this is not about Charles, and asks Mystique if she is ready to make the ultimate sacrifice. After Mystique hesitatingly tells him that she is, Magneto says goodbye.
Elsewhere inside the Triskelion, Angel screams for help after Deathstrike struck Dazzler with one of her prolonged fingers. When Deathstrike informs him that Fury will probably not come to his rescue, Longshot suddenly appears from behind and puts his hand on her mounth. With a quick twist, he breaks her neck. Longshot tells him that he owned them one fom the time that they helped him escape from the island of Krakoa. After Angel flies away with Dazzler, Mister Sinister tells Longshot that death is only one more stage of evolution for those who pledge allegiance to Lord Apocalypse. Just after Longshot threatens to kill him, something or someone from behind him draws his attention.
Outside the Triskelion, Northstar and Havok have crossed the water. After Northstar runs up the prison's wall, he reaches the rooftop, where they come face to face with Magneto and Forge. In Forge's arms lies the unconscious Polaris. Before Northstar knows it, Magneto wraps him in a couple of steel plates. When Havok powers up and demands that they let go of Northstar, Magneto threatens to snap Polaris' neck. Just as Magneto grabs Havok by the neck, the X-Men arrive in the X-Wing. Marvel Girl uses her psychic powers on him but Magneto can resist her powers thanks to the helmet that he is wearing. With the arrival of the X-Men, Forge starts to worry but Magneto tells him to calm himself and states that they will be fine, just as long as they have his machine, on which Magneto has been putting his hand ever since.
Suddenly Magneto uses his powers to pop out Wolverine's claws, which the X-Men thought was impossible as Beast had shielded the X-Wing from Magneto's powers. Just after Storm makes the assumption that Magneto is using a different wave frequency, the X-Wing gets totally disassembled.
Marvel Girl is able to grab Cyclops while Nightcrawler teleports himself to safety. Although Storm has grabbed Wolverine, he tells her to drop him so that she can go after Shadowcat, who would not be able to survive the fall. Just in time, Shadowcat is saved but instead of Storm, it is Iceman who catches her. From that point, all the X-Men head for Magneto and Forge.
After their arrival, Cyclops orders Shadowcat to free Northstar from his metal prison. Meanwhile Storm has to deal with any remaining, flying scrapnell. When Cyclops tells Nightcrawler to free Polaris, his brother orders him to stop, because he is convinced that Magneto and Forge will kill her. But Marvel Girl has already taken control of Forge. Last but not least, Cyclops is ready to make his move. Although Magneto still threatens to kill Havok, Havok smiles as he knows what is about to happen. After Cyclops blasts at both his brother and Magneto, it is only Magneto who gets hit. Due to the blast Magneto knocks his head against a wall and loses consciousness.
Finally Havok and Polaris are reunited. Although Cyclops does not want to admit it, Marvel Girl senses that he is still a bit jealous. But the joyous reunion with his girlfriend is cut short when Nick Fury arrives. Nick is not only there to arrest Magneto and Forge but also a third fellon. Immediately Lorna assumes that she has to go back but she refuses to be locked up again with Magneto. After Scott comes to her defense and states that she is innocent, Nick informs them that he already knows that. Then he reveals that he has come for Alex, because S.H.I.E.L.D. lost an entire platoon to contain the prison riot while Alex kept the Ultimates busy. For this, Alex is sentenced a lifetime stay at Camp X-Factor. Just in time Wolverine reaches the rooftop, after his fall into the water. Wolverine tells Nick that it was Magneto who caused him his platoon. Wolverine even dares to blame Nick for imprisoning Lorna with Magneto before he had all the facts about the incident. To make sure that Nick will let them all go, Wolverine blackmails him by threatening to reveal the secret mission that Wolverine once did for Nick.
After Nick ends S.H.I.E.L.D.'s relationship with the X-Men and states that they are enemies from now on, Warren finally reaches the rooftop with the badly injured Alison in his arms.
One week later at the Westchester General Hospital, Alison is still in a coma. Charles tries to comfort Warren and informs him that there is still a chance that she will come out of it. Warren confesses that it was his fault and that he will understand if Charles would decide to expel him from the Institute. Although Charles has no other choice than to expel him, he wants Warren to become one of his secret operatives, whom he occassionly uses in delicate situations. He wants Warren to go undercover in the Academy of Tomorrow. Warren agrees to this but only if Charles allows Alison back to the school after she wakes up. Charles gives him his word.
Some time after Warren has left the Institute, Kurt overhears a conversation between Peter and Jean-Paul Beaubier. After Peter finishes, he tells Kurt that Jean-Paul has asked him to go to Homecoming with him. Finally Kurt realises that Peter really is gay. Not knowing what to say, Kurt teleports away. At that point a changed Rogue enters the room.
At the Triskelion, Magneto receives a visit from Emma Frost, who threatens to make him suffer if he or any of his henchmen dare to come near one of her students again. She even underlines the fact that she is not against the death penalty. Emma feels the need to remind Magneto that his plan to escape has failt completely as all the prisoners but one are locked up again. After Magneto turns his head away from the camera and Emma, his eyes turn yellow.
Elsewhere, Longshot and the real Magneto are walking through the sewers. After Longshot understands that Mystique took Magneto's place in the Triskelion, he does not understand how Mystique could fake his magnetic powers. Magneto explains that Forge's electromagnetic field generator came in handy to accomplish that . Magneto even confesses that it were his agents, who tipped off S.H.I.E.L.D. about Longshot's whereabouts in the Savage Land. When Longshot asks him about his future plans, Magneto replies that it is time for something new.
