Issue Summary:
All the men are dead. How? Why?…over the half hour or so before this tragedy occurs, Yorick Brown has been in his apartment in Brooklyn, New York City, talking to his girlfriend Beth Deville who is exploring the sunny Australian outback. Yorick explains how he volunteered to help raise the capuchin monkey Ampersand, and avoids Ampersand’s mess. Yorick asks Beth to marry him over-the-phone while holding the ring he recently bought at a magic store. Meanwhile, Yorick’s mother plays politics in Washington D.C. and talks to both her son Yorick and daughter Hero over the phone. Christopher Emanuel and his news crew in Nabius, West Bank, interview Colonel ‘Alter’ Tse’elon as they leave the conflict area. In Al Karak, Jordan, Agent 355 encounters Doctor Frozan Hamad regarding the Amulet of Helene which she wears around her neck; after Doctor Hamad is assassinated by local militants, Agent 355 takes the Amulet of Helene out of the country by helicopter despite the seriously catastrophic yet superstitious warnings not to do so by Doctor Hamad. In Boston, Massachusetts, Doctor Allison Mann goes into labor six weeks before her baby is due, she reveals to Doctor Michael Gilman that she is pregnant with her own clone. Also in Boston, Hero Brown is called by her (and Yorick’s) mother interrupting her intimacy with firefighter boyfriend Joe, who is called away on emergency. As Yorick proposes to Beth over the phone, Agent 355’s helicopter leaves Jordan airspace, and Doctor Mann has her baby; every single male mammal on Earth dies a gruesome and bloody death simultaneously… All men that is except for Yorick and Ampersand, who soon hear the gunshot of a female police officer killing herself in despair in the distance.
