Amara Aquilla gets introduced to Professor Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. Professor X gives her the grand tour of the mansion. Amara is quite impressed with everything new, as she is used to Nova Roma, which is the equivalent of ancient Rome. The New Mutants are throwing her a welcome party. Cannonball is so under the influence of Amara’s appearance, that he makes a stupid move, ruining her clothes. The dress that is ruined is one of the few things her mother has left her. Amara gets highly upset and causes earthquakes and lava sprouting out of the ground. She runs away, crying, the New Mutants follow her but keep their distance, because they feel she needs to be alone for a moment.
At Project Wideawake Sebastian Shaw, Henry Peter Gyrich and Valerie Cooper are testing a new Sentinel. Suddenly the Sentinel goes wild and attacks them. Gyrich has no choice but to destroy it. He shouts he wants to find the one responsible for this. Kitty Pryde and Doug Ramsey are sitting behind their computers, where Doug remarks that the operators of the system they just hacked went offline with a bang. It seems like these two are responsible for the Sentinel’s malfunction. Kitty now has found out that the Government has ties to the Hellfire Club. Kitty has lost track of time and gets summoned by Professor X to come home. She takes a short cut through the woods and there she finds the crying Amara. She tries to comfort Amara, but the latter refuses her help because she wants to be left alone. When she walks away, she runs into the other New Mutants, who are approaching her with a touchy attitude. In the past, Professor Xavier wanted to transfer Kitty from the X-men to the New Mutants. In that respect, Kitty called the New Mutants, X-Babies. That’s where the hostility comes from.
At the mansion she also gets a lecture from the Professor regarding her position towards the New Mutants. The Professor thinks about Amara sitting alone in the cold, lonesome. Suddenly he gets scanned by a wave out of nowhere, he has no clue what it is or where it comes from. The next morning the New Mutants are having computer class, dance class, which are both relatively new to Amara. It is also time for her first session in the Danger Room and she receives her code name Magma. As the Professor explains he will be in her mind all the time to guide her, she reacts angrily and storms away. Later in the evening she goes downstairs and finds the Professor talking to Lilandra long distance. He reminds her of her father, so she decides to stay and trust the Professor and do her best to learn.

Illyana Rasputin is thinking about her time in Limbo, where the normal rules of time don’t apply. While on Earth it was seconds, in Limbo years passed. She saw friends die, while others died by her hands. She’s a mutant and a demon sorceress, now. Her medallion is needed by Belasco to open the dimensional gateway, but the last bloodstone has to be purged from her life essence. In the mean time the New Mutants are running outdoors for some fun in the fresh snow. She holds herself aloof from the New Mutants. Professor X is observing her from behind the window, wondering what has happened to her in Limbo; her mind is closed to him so he cannot read her thoughts. The New Mutants decide that the Professor needs a surprise party, because his lover (Lilandra) has left for space, and they are inviting Illyana to help them. From a distance the company is observed by S’ym.
In Salem Center the New Mutants are informing Stevie Hunter, their dance teacher, of the plans to cheer the Professor up. Together they do some shopping in the mall. At the mansion Professor X senses another presence. He investigates and finds S’ym, who punches him out of this wheelchair. When the New Mutants return from the town, they find the mansion in complete silence. Not to spoil the surprise, they decide that Illyana has to step first into the mansion, since Professor X cannot read her mind. When Illyana wanders through the mansion alone, she is grabbed by S’ym. She feels like the little girl in Limbo again, when S’ym was punishing her. In one last attempt she succeeds in transporting the New Mutants and Stevie Hunter through a stepping disc (her mutant power) to Limbo and back. Back they see S’ym holding Illyana, who’s unconscious. He asks them to let him be, because Illyana is all he wants. The New Mutants attack him immediately, but are defeated one by one. When Dani creates a spirit form of his greatest fear, S’ym is distracted, but so are they, because it is Belasco who slowly turns into the Darkchilde (Illyana’s dark side). Stevie Hunter takes advantage of this distraction and takes Illyana away from the scene, while the New Mutants keep on attacking the demon one by one.
Stevie and Illyana are escaping in the elevator, while they hear screams from the New Mutants, which is not a good sign. S’ym is coming after them, but when they nearly have reached freedom, Stevie falls down because of her injured knee. S’ym is coming for them, but than it seems that Illyana only played she was unconscious. Illyana battles the demon with her magik, making him even madder than he already was. At last Illyana draws her soul sword and threatens to kill S’ym. She spares him, but because of it he has to serve her now. She teleports him to Limbo. After that Illyana wipes out Stevie’s memories of her practicing sorcery. When the X-men return home, they find the living room shattered because of the fight. Illyana feels alone with her thoughts as the Professor asks her to dance with him. Then she notices that the Professor can walk. Doug Ramsey knocks on the window to speak with Kitty Pryde; he tells he is accepted at the Massachusetts Academy. Kitty knows this school is been run by the Hellfire Club, but is unable to tell him without revealing she’s an X-man.

Illyana Rasputin goes searching in her astral form for Kitty Pryde, who has not contacted anyone since she left with Doug Ramsey for the Massachusetts Academy. She finds Kitty imprisoned in a chair by the White Queen of the Hellfire Club. Illyana’s astral form is spotted and attacked by the White Queen. The New Mutants hear Illyana’s scream and as they arrive at her room, monsters are leaving Illyana’s eyes. The New Mutants try to capture the monsters, but this is easier said than done. Psyche shows them eventually the thing they fear most, Illyana. After confronted by the New Mutants, Illyana confesses that she is more than a mutant, she is also a sorceress. She tells them that Kitty has been captured by the White Queen. Together they take the bus to Snow Valley to rescue Kitty Pryde. After breaking into the complex, they see Kitty, only to find out that it is a trap laid by the White Queen.

The New Mutants manage to escape the initial trap of the White Queen. They hide themselves in a store room and discuss their further steps. They agree to divide the group into three teams to find and free Kitty Pryde and Doug Ramsey. However, soon after leaving the room, Wolfsbane and Sunspot are easily defeated by Thunderbird and Roulette, thanks to the black, bad luck, discs of Roulette. Outside, Magma and Cannonball are eventually triumphing over Empath and Jetstream. Unfortunately the White Queen intervenes and telepathically twists their perceptions, leaving them at her mercy. Psyche and Illyana are fighting Catseye and Tarot. Also here, the White Queen intervenes and tries to take over their minds. Due to the impenetrability of Illyana’s mind combined with her teleportation discs, Illyana manages to flee, taking Psyche with her.

The White Queen and the Hellions are reviewing the performance of the activities of last night. The New Mutants and Kitty Pryde are locked up in a room, which has an inhibitor field that neutralises their powers. Psyche and Illyana Rasputin had escaped and are now recovering in Limbo (Illyana’s realm). Psyche sees that Illyana heals herself with white as well as black magic. Although Dani’s scared, the bond between the girls grows. Through a stepping disc of Illlyana, they arrive one year in the future, only to find out that the White Queen’s scheme has succeeded. The Hellions, the New Mutants and Kitty Pryde act as one big family. Suddenly the White Queen appears and again they make a last-minute escape. With the next try, the steppin’ disc is more accurate and they arrive a week in the future. They find the New Mutants in their secured room. However, they get snatched by the Hellions. But, instead of a fight, the Hellions propose a duel. Some of the Hellions aren’t too pleased with the fact that the New Mutants are forced into this, so they act without the approval of the White Queen. The duel is one of the Hellions against one of the New Mutants, with the New Mutants’ freedom as “prize”. The choices for the duellists are Cannonball and Jetstream. Cannonball ultimately wins the fight, but Jetstream doesn’t want to surrender. Then they are interrupted by the White Queen and the Black King. After a quick fight, Kitty knows to dismantle the Combat Room-computer and in the confusion the New Mutants manage to escape and return to Westchester.

Rachel Grey from the “Days of Future Past”-timeline visits Professor Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters for the first time since she has arrived. However, when Illyana opens the door, she runs away, as she expects Illyana to be a child. The New Mutants are practicing in the Danger Room. Dani Moonstar is haunted by nightmares of the bear that killed her parents. At night, she puts on war paint, and once outside, she summons the Demon Bear. The Demon Bear appears and Dani pulls out the image of what the Bear fears the most. It is an image of Dani herself. Dani shoots the Bear with three arrows and after the Demon Bear has fallen down, she thinks she has won. When she comes close to the Bear, it attacks and leaves Dani mortally wounded.

Dani Moonstar is brought into Mid-County hospital, where she has to attend emergency surgery. Tom Corsi, Westchester County Police, is questioning the New Mutants about what happened. From Sharon Friedlander (nurse in hospital) they find out that their hopes of Dani recovering shouldn’t be too high. The New Mutants are very upset, but are convinced that the Demon Bear comes back to finish the job. Sunspot and Magik have the first watch to wake over the operation; the others try to get some sleep. As suspected, the Demon Bear attacks, Tom Corsi and Sharon Friedlander are its victims. Magma, Cannonball and Wolfsbane are alarmed by their screams, and run towards them. In the mean time Magik has cast a spell around the operation room, to keep the Demon Bear out. Just in time, because the bear attacks Sunspot and Magik. Magik deflects the first attack with her soul sword, and the Demon Bear teleports away. A sudden power failure makes the situation more difficult and when the Demon Bear attacks again, the New Mutants fight with all their powers. Magik finds out that wherever the Demon Bear strikes her, body armour appears. Then the Demon Bear transports the New Mutants to his turf.

The Demon Bear has transported Tom Corsi, Sharon Friedlander, the New Mutants and a globe with the operation room in it, to his own domain, a mystical realm of a virgin America. Thanks to Illyana’s magickal wards around the operation room, the Demon Bear is not able to hurt Dani Moonstar. The Bear strikes its claws through the bodies of Tom Corsi and Sharon Friedlander, only tainting their souls. Tom and Sharon have now become demons and are helping the Demon Bear. Now the New Mutants have to fight three opponents instead of one. Wherever the Demon Bear’s shadow falls, day becomes night and as the darkness over the land spreads, its power grows. When the Demon Bear makes Magma one of its disciples, Illyana rescues her immediately by stabbing her with the soul sword. Cannonball thinks that Illyana has killed Magma, and revenges her. Luckily for Illyana her armour has protected her from any further harm. Since the shadow has taken over the land, the New Mutants have to ask Dani, through the mind link with Wolfsbane, how to defeat the Demon Bear. Wolfsbane is very reluctant, to do this, because last time Dani almost died when she used their link. The answer is Illyana’s soul sword. After a diversion from Magma (the Bear is afraid of fire), Illyana splits the Demon Bear’s in half with her soul sword. Out of the Bear, Dani Moonstar’s parents appear, they were enslaved by the Bear. And then, the New Mutants are back in the hospital. A repercussion is that Tom Corsi and Sharon Friedlander have become Red Indians. Dani Moonstar will be fully healed eventually, thanks to the Healer, one of the Morlocks.

At Professor Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters the female members of the New Mutants are having a slumber party with several invited girls from Salem Center. Cannonball and Sunspot are discovering a fallen meteor and are bringing it in the lab. But it is no meteor, but Warlock on the run for this father (the Magus), both synthetic life forms from another planet. To stay alive Warlock has to touch organic matter, which he infects with a genetic virus, fundamentally changing its DNA-structure and transforming it into a techno-organic construct. After that he has to drain its energy, which leaves the organic matter inert. After a fight with Warlock, the New Mutants ask for the help of Doug Ramsey, a mutant with the gift of languages. The New Mutants are able to communicate with Warlock and when Professor X comes home, he welcomes him to the New Mutants and the school.

That’s why she writes a fairy tale about an enchanted princess who attacks a silver sorceress and her black baron, because they’ve hurt her beloved, Prince Duncan. The characters of her fairy tale are most likely Wolfsbane (princess), Sunspot (prince), Dagger (silver sorceress) and Cloak (black baron) and are a forebode of things to come. Later that night at the mansion, Wolfsbane holds the golden necklace of Dagger in her hands…

Selene and Emmanuel DaCosta are introduced into the sacred Inner Circle of the Hellfire Club. Sunspot is acting kind of weird and aggressive in Harry’s Hideaway and Colossus sees himself obligated to fight him and warn Professor X of the situation. Both of them are unconscious at the end of their fight and Professor X asks Mirage and Cannonball to retrieve them. After that, Mirage and Cannonball are called by Wolfsbane from a luxurious hotel. When they arrive Wolfsbane has no idea how she has gotten there and asks them for help. Mirage finds the necklace of Dagger in Wolfsbane’s room. Finally Cannonball and Mirage put the pieces of the puzzle together. The fact that Wolfsbane and Sunspot are acting out of character, is that they have again absorbed the powers of light and dark from Cloak & Dagger. Mirage and Cannonball are visiting Cloak & Dagger in the hospital, but they find them uncooperative. In the mean time, in the mansion, Sunspot has attacked Colossus, Professor X and Moira MacTaggert with his shadow powers.

Sunspot, terrifyingly disfigured, attacks Moira MacTaggert in the lab. Luckily Rahne enters the room to rescue Moira. Rahne is also changed, but in a much more positive way, she’s now a glowing angel. As Cannonball and Mirage enter the lab, out of fear Sunspot teleports himself and Wolfsbane away to the church of Father Michael Bowen. Out of hospital, Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson, the former Cloak & Dagger, are not able to prevent a drug dealer from misleading some innocents. Roberto is afraid he has killed Colossus, but Rahne insures him that this is not true. She transforms to a silver werewolf and manages to free Colossus from Roberto’s shadow power. Meanwhile Professor X, Mirage, Cannonball, Magik and Rogue have arrived at the church. After an unsuccessful attempt of Mirage to interact with their emotions, Magik breaks their bond. Since this intervention with her soul sword worked out, Magik tries to cure them in Limbo. This attempt is rather unsuccessful and very dangerous. When she returns with Rahne and Roberto, Professor X is furious at her. But then Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson show up.

Amara Aquilla gets introduced to Professor Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. Professor X gives her the grand tour of the mansion. Amara is quite impressed with everything new, as she is used to Nova Roma, which is the equivalent of ancient Rome. The New Mutants are throwing her a welcome party. Cannonball is so under the influence of Amara’s appearance, that he makes a stupid move, ruining her clothes. The dress that is ruined is one of the few things her mother has left her. Amara gets highly upset and causes earthquakes and lava sprouting out of the ground. She runs away, crying, the New Mutants follow her but keep their distance, because they feel she needs to be alone for a moment.
At Project Wideawake Sebastian Shaw, Henry Peter Gyrich and Valerie Cooper are testing a new Sentinel. Suddenly the Sentinel goes wild and attacks them. Gyrich has no choice but to destroy it. He shouts he wants to find the one responsible for this. Kitty Pryde and Doug Ramsey are sitting behind their computers, where Doug remarks that the operators of the system they just hacked went offline with a bang. It seems like these two are responsible for the Sentinel’s malfunction. Kitty now has found out that the Government has ties to the Hellfire Club. Kitty has lost track of time and gets summoned by Professor X to come home. She takes a short cut through the woods and there she finds the crying Amara. She tries to comfort Amara, but the latter refuses her help because she wants to be left alone. When she walks away, she runs into the other New Mutants, who are approaching her with a touchy attitude. In the past, Professor Xavier wanted to transfer Kitty from the X-men to the New Mutants. In that respect, Kitty called the New Mutants, X-Babies. That’s where the hostility comes from.
At the mansion she also gets a lecture from the Professor regarding her position towards the New Mutants. The Professor thinks about Amara sitting alone in the cold, lonesome. Suddenly he gets scanned by a wave out of nowhere, he has no clue what it is or where it comes from. The next morning the New Mutants are having computer class, dance class, which are both relatively new to Amara. It is also time for her first session in the Danger Room and she receives her code name Magma. As the Professor explains he will be in her mind all the time to guide her, she reacts angrily and storms away. Later in the evening she goes downstairs and finds the Professor talking to Lilandra long distance. He reminds her of her father, so she decides to stay and trust the Professor and do her best to learn.

Illyana Rasputin is thinking about her time in Limbo, where the normal rules of time don’t apply. While on Earth it was seconds, in Limbo years passed. She saw friends die, while others died by her hands. She’s a mutant and a demon sorceress, now. Her medallion is needed by Belasco to open the dimensional gateway, but the last bloodstone has to be purged from her life essence. In the mean time the New Mutants are running outdoors for some fun in the fresh snow. She holds herself aloof from the New Mutants. Professor X is observing her from behind the window, wondering what has happened to her in Limbo; her mind is closed to him so he cannot read her thoughts. The New Mutants decide that the Professor needs a surprise party, because his lover (Lilandra) has left for space, and they are inviting Illyana to help them. From a distance the company is observed by S’ym.
In Salem Center the New Mutants are informing Stevie Hunter, their dance teacher, of the plans to cheer the Professor up. Together they do some shopping in the mall. At the mansion Professor X senses another presence. He investigates and finds S’ym, who punches him out of this wheelchair. When the New Mutants return from the town, they find the mansion in complete silence. Not to spoil the surprise, they decide that Illyana has to step first into the mansion, since Professor X cannot read her mind. When Illyana wanders through the mansion alone, she is grabbed by S’ym. She feels like the little girl in Limbo again, when S’ym was punishing her. In one last attempt she succeeds in transporting the New Mutants and Stevie Hunter through a stepping disc (her mutant power) to Limbo and back. Back they see S’ym holding Illyana, who’s unconscious. He asks them to let him be, because Illyana is all he wants. The New Mutants attack him immediately, but are defeated one by one. When Dani creates a spirit form of his greatest fear, S’ym is distracted, but so are they, because it is Belasco who slowly turns into the Darkchilde (Illyana’s dark side). Stevie Hunter takes advantage of this distraction and takes Illyana away from the scene, while the New Mutants keep on attacking the demon one by one.
Stevie and Illyana are escaping in the elevator, while they hear screams from the New Mutants, which is not a good sign. S’ym is coming after them, but when they nearly have reached freedom, Stevie falls down because of her injured knee. S’ym is coming for them, but than it seems that Illyana only played she was unconscious. Illyana battles the demon with her magik, making him even madder than he already was. At last Illyana draws her soul sword and threatens to kill S’ym. She spares him, but because of it he has to serve her now. She teleports him to Limbo. After that Illyana wipes out Stevie’s memories of her practicing sorcery. When the X-men return home, they find the living room shattered because of the fight. Illyana feels alone with her thoughts as the Professor asks her to dance with him. Then she notices that the Professor can walk. Doug Ramsey knocks on the window to speak with Kitty Pryde; he tells he is accepted at the Massachusetts Academy. Kitty knows this school is been run by the Hellfire Club, but is unable to tell him without revealing she’s an X-man.

Illyana Rasputin goes searching in her astral form for Kitty Pryde, who has not contacted anyone since she left with Doug Ramsey for the Massachusetts Academy. She finds Kitty imprisoned in a chair by the White Queen of the Hellfire Club. Illyana’s astral form is spotted and attacked by the White Queen. The New Mutants hear Illyana’s scream and as they arrive at her room, monsters are leaving Illyana’s eyes. The New Mutants try to capture the monsters, but this is easier said than done. Psyche shows them eventually the thing they fear most, Illyana. After confronted by the New Mutants, Illyana confesses that she is more than a mutant, she is also a sorceress. She tells them that Kitty has been captured by the White Queen. Together they take the bus to Snow Valley to rescue Kitty Pryde. After breaking into the complex, they see Kitty, only to find out that it is a trap laid by the White Queen.

The New Mutants manage to escape the initial trap of the White Queen. They hide themselves in a store room and discuss their further steps. They agree to divide the group into three teams to find and free Kitty Pryde and Doug Ramsey. However, soon after leaving the room, Wolfsbane and Sunspot are easily defeated by Thunderbird and Roulette, thanks to the black, bad luck, discs of Roulette. Outside, Magma and Cannonball are eventually triumphing over Empath and Jetstream. Unfortunately the White Queen intervenes and telepathically twists their perceptions, leaving them at her mercy. Psyche and Illyana are fighting Catseye and Tarot. Also here, the White Queen intervenes and tries to take over their minds. Due to the impenetrability of Illyana’s mind combined with her teleportation discs, Illyana manages to flee, taking Psyche with her.

The White Queen and the Hellions are reviewing the performance of the activities of last night. The New Mutants and Kitty Pryde are locked up in a room, which has an inhibitor field that neutralises their powers. Psyche and Illyana Rasputin had escaped and are now recovering in Limbo (Illyana’s realm). Psyche sees that Illyana heals herself with white as well as black magic. Although Dani’s scared, the bond between the girls grows. Through a stepping disc of Illlyana, they arrive one year in the future, only to find out that the White Queen’s scheme has succeeded. The Hellions, the New Mutants and Kitty Pryde act as one big family. Suddenly the White Queen appears and again they make a last-minute escape. With the next try, the steppin’ disc is more accurate and they arrive a week in the future. They find the New Mutants in their secured room. However, they get snatched by the Hellions. But, instead of a fight, the Hellions propose a duel. Some of the Hellions aren’t too pleased with the fact that the New Mutants are forced into this, so they act without the approval of the White Queen. The duel is one of the Hellions against one of the New Mutants, with the New Mutants’ freedom as “prize”. The choices for the duellists are Cannonball and Jetstream. Cannonball ultimately wins the fight, but Jetstream doesn’t want to surrender. Then they are interrupted by the White Queen and the Black King. After a quick fight, Kitty knows to dismantle the Combat Room-computer and in the confusion the New Mutants manage to escape and return to Westchester.

Rachel Grey from the “Days of Future Past”-timeline visits Professor Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters for the first time since she has arrived. However, when Illyana opens the door, she runs away, as she expects Illyana to be a child. The New Mutants are practicing in the Danger Room. Dani Moonstar is haunted by nightmares of the bear that killed her parents. At night, she puts on war paint, and once outside, she summons the Demon Bear. The Demon Bear appears and Dani pulls out the image of what the Bear fears the most. It is an image of Dani herself. Dani shoots the Bear with three arrows and after the Demon Bear has fallen down, she thinks she has won. When she comes close to the Bear, it attacks and leaves Dani mortally wounded.

Dani Moonstar is brought into Mid-County hospital, where she has to attend emergency surgery. Tom Corsi, Westchester County Police, is questioning the New Mutants about what happened. From Sharon Friedlander (nurse in hospital) they find out that their hopes of Dani recovering shouldn’t be too high. The New Mutants are very upset, but are convinced that the Demon Bear comes back to finish the job. Sunspot and Magik have the first watch to wake over the operation; the others try to get some sleep. As suspected, the Demon Bear attacks, Tom Corsi and Sharon Friedlander are its victims. Magma, Cannonball and Wolfsbane are alarmed by their screams, and run towards them. In the mean time Magik has cast a spell around the operation room, to keep the Demon Bear out. Just in time, because the bear attacks Sunspot and Magik. Magik deflects the first attack with her soul sword, and the Demon Bear teleports away. A sudden power failure makes the situation more difficult and when the Demon Bear attacks again, the New Mutants fight with all their powers. Magik finds out that wherever the Demon Bear strikes her, body armour appears. Then the Demon Bear transports the New Mutants to his turf.

The Demon Bear has transported Tom Corsi, Sharon Friedlander, the New Mutants and a globe with the operation room in it, to his own domain, a mystical realm of a virgin America. Thanks to Illyana’s magickal wards around the operation room, the Demon Bear is not able to hurt Dani Moonstar. The Bear strikes its claws through the bodies of Tom Corsi and Sharon Friedlander, only tainting their souls. Tom and Sharon have now become demons and are helping the Demon Bear. Now the New Mutants have to fight three opponents instead of one. Wherever the Demon Bear’s shadow falls, day becomes night and as the darkness over the land spreads, its power grows. When the Demon Bear makes Magma one of its disciples, Illyana rescues her immediately by stabbing her with the soul sword. Cannonball thinks that Illyana has killed Magma, and revenges her. Luckily for Illyana her armour has protected her from any further harm. Since the shadow has taken over the land, the New Mutants have to ask Dani, through the mind link with Wolfsbane, how to defeat the Demon Bear. Wolfsbane is very reluctant, to do this, because last time Dani almost died when she used their link. The answer is Illyana’s soul sword. After a diversion from Magma (the Bear is afraid of fire), Illyana splits the Demon Bear’s in half with her soul sword. Out of the Bear, Dani Moonstar’s parents appear, they were enslaved by the Bear. And then, the New Mutants are back in the hospital. A repercussion is that Tom Corsi and Sharon Friedlander have become Red Indians. Dani Moonstar will be fully healed eventually, thanks to the Healer, one of the Morlocks.

At Professor Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters the female members of the New Mutants are having a slumber party with several invited girls from Salem Center. Cannonball and Sunspot are discovering a fallen meteor and are bringing it in the lab. But it is no meteor, but Warlock on the run for this father (the Magus), both synthetic life forms from another planet. To stay alive Warlock has to touch organic matter, which he infects with a genetic virus, fundamentally changing its DNA-structure and transforming it into a techno-organic construct. After that he has to drain its energy, which leaves the organic matter inert. After a fight with Warlock, the New Mutants ask for the help of Doug Ramsey, a mutant with the gift of languages. The New Mutants are able to communicate with Warlock and when Professor X comes home, he welcomes him to the New Mutants and the school.

Nightcrawler and Colossus are training Cannonball and Sunspot in the Danger room. Wolfsbane is looking for someone to talk to, but no-one has any time for her. That’s why she writes a fairy tale about an enchanted princess who attacks a silver sorceress and her black baron, because they’ve hurt her beloved, Prince Duncan. The characters of her fairy tale are most likely Wolfsbane (princess), Sunspot (prince), Dagger (silver sorceress) and Cloak (black baron) and are a forebode of things to come. Later that night at the mansion, Wolfsbane holds the golden necklace of Dagger in her hands…

Selene and Emmanuel DaCosta are introduced into the sacred Inner Circle of the Hellfire Club. Sunspot is acting kind of weird and aggressive in Harry’s Hideaway and Colossus sees himself obligated to fight him and warn Professor X of the situation. Both of them are unconscious at the end of their fight and Professor X asks Mirage and Cannonball to retrieve them. After that, Mirage and Cannonball are called by Wolfsbane from a luxurious hotel. When they arrive Wolfsbane has no idea how she has gotten there and asks them for help. Mirage finds the necklace of Dagger in Wolfsbane’s room. Finally Cannonball and Mirage put the pieces of the puzzle together. The fact that Wolfsbane and Sunspot are acting out of character, is that they have again absorbed the powers of light and dark from Cloak & Dagger. Mirage and Cannonball are visiting Cloak & Dagger in the hospital, but they find them uncooperative. In the mean time, in the mansion, Sunspot has attacked Colossus, Professor X and Moira MacTaggert with his shadow powers.

Sunspot, terrifyingly disfigured, attacks Moira MacTaggert in the lab. Luckily Rahne enters the room to rescue Moira. Rahne is also changed, but in a much more positive way, she’s now a glowing angel. As Cannonball and Mirage enter the lab, out of fear Sunspot teleports himself and Wolfsbane away to the church of Father Michael Bowen. Out of hospital, Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson, the former Cloak & Dagger, are not able to prevent a drug dealer from misleading some innocents. Roberto is afraid he has killed Colossus, but Rahne insures him that this is not true. She transforms to a silver werewolf and manages to free Colossus from Roberto’s shadow power. Meanwhile Professor X, Mirage, Cannonball, Magik and Rogue have arrived at the church. After an unsuccessful attempt of Mirage to interact with their emotions, Magik breaks their bond. Since this intervention with her soul sword worked out, Magik tries to cure them in Limbo. This attempt is rather unsuccessful and very dangerous. When she returns with Rahne and Roberto, Professor X is furious at her. But then Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson show up.
