It turns out that Peter was only trying to lure the Green Goblin out and escapes. A Sentinel manages to take a picture of Peter flying with the Green Goblin’s glider, dressed as unmasked Green Goblin, and the knowledge is soon made public. Gwen, George and Ben decide to steal back Peter’s diary from Jameson but they face a robot, built by Spencer Smythe and controlled by Jameson. Spider-Man comes to destroy the robot and leaves, but not before George manages to catch the diary from him.

It turns out that Peter made everything up. He had felt guilty for having everything he wanted and had started writing about his guilt and had eventually started writing imaginary stories in his journal to justify it. Even that wasn’t enough, so Peter disguised himself as the Green Goblin and gave Jameson the journal in order to sabotage his life. The news that Parker was a homo sapien gave mutants a reason to treat humans badly, even to chase them out of their homes, so Peter faked his death and sent Magneto a note, telling him to ease up on humans if he wanted Parker to stay dead. Peter then returned to his family and they went camping.

It turns out that Peter made everything up. He had felt guilty for having everything he wanted and had started writing about his guilt and had eventually started writing imaginary stories in his journal to justify it. Even that wasn’t enough, so Peter disguised himself as the Green Goblin and gave Jameson the journal in order to sabotage his life. The news that Parker was a homo sapien gave mutants a reason to treat humans badly, even to chase them out of their homes, so Peter faked his death and sent Magneto a note, telling him to ease up on humans if he wanted Parker to stay dead. Peter then returned to his family and they went camping.
