While Paladin and Diamondback spy on a biological weapons facility operating under the guise of Genetassist as someone else watches them, the Hellions consider accepting the Kingmaker's assistance, but as Sooraya is still wary, the team takes a 'no-strings-attached' trial run to ease her mind.
Rockslide gets his wish to become a super-powered wrestler, Mercury visits her parents, who are suddenly more than happy to have their mutant daughter back, and Wither is given 'the cure' for mutation, which seemingly deactivates his deadly touch. Later, Dust is reunited with her mother in Afghanistan, Hellion gets his glory after saving the governor's life and Tag orchestrates a few of his friends' wishes.
Meanwhile, unbeknownst to the Hellions, the Kingmaker is making arrangements for their side of the agreement, assuring Dr. Octopus that he has the perfect team to infiltrate Genetassist.

Nick Fury is very displeased that Diamonback II and Paladin failed because of a bunch of children (even though he knows they're from Xavier's). Hellion tells Kingmaker he'll give him the weapon in return for having their contracts destroyed. The Kingmaker fails to make the Hellions change their minds about leaving his service. After the contracts are destroyed, the Hellions try to get the case with the weapon and disc back, but the Kingmaker's devices defeats them.
The Kingmaker and Stephanie leave, but not before calling the cops. The Hellions escape the cops, thanks to Tag and Hellion. They stop the Kingmaker and wreck his car in the process. This issue reveals that Wither's power is like a hunger that he has to fight.
Diamondback, Colonel Fury, and Paladin reach the scene of Kingmaker's defeat. They hand over the case -- but the computer files are damaged and Wither "accidentally" rendered the bio-weapon inert. Fury is unhappy. So are the mercenaries, because they won't get paid.
The Kingmaker got his revenge anyway: Rockslide is not allowed to wrestle.
Wither no longer has the cure to keep his power in check. Mercury's parents accepted her only because two low-level telepaths of the Kingmaker's made them. The Kincaids reject their daughter. Dust's mother, Mirah Qadir, has been transferred from the refugee camp and she can't find out where her mother is. The Kellers are upset with Julian because reporter Jennifer Matlin wrote a front-page story that Julian is a mutant menace, even though S.H.I.E.L.D. cleared the Hellions of all charges. Julian points out to his parents that the Kingmaker is going to be mad at them, but call him if they need him. He's always there for his family.
Emma Frost gets the Kingmaker out of jail. Her children must be left unharmed and he is not to go anywhere near them or she'll see to it that he's put back in jail and no amount of favors will get him released.
The Hellions are going to stay at the school for the summer.

After the contracts are destroyed, the Hellions try to get the case with the weapon and disc back, but the Kingmaker's devices defeats them.
The Kingmaker and Stephanie leave, but not before calling the cops. The Hellions escape the cops, thanks to Tag and Hellion. They stop the Kingmaker and wreck his car in the process. This issue reveals that Wither's power is like a hunger that he has to fight.
Diamondback, Colonel Fury, and Paladin reach the scene of Kingmaker's defeat. They hand over the case -- but the computer files are damaged and Wither "accidentally" rendered the bio-weapon inert. Fury is unhappy. So are the mercenaries, because they won't get paid.
The Kingmaker got his revenge anyway: Rockslide is not allowed to wrestle.
Wither no longer has the cure to keep his power in check. Mercury's parents accepted her only because two low-level telepaths of the Kingmaker's made them. The Kincaids reject their daughter. Dust's mother, Mirah Qadir, has been transferred from the refugee camp and she can't find out where her mother is. The Kellers are upset with Julian because reporter Jennifer Matlin wrote a front-page story that Julian is a mutant menace, even though S.H.I.E.L.D. cleared the Hellions of all charges. Julian points out to his parents that the Kingmaker is going to be mad at them, but call him if they need him. He's always there for his family.
Emma Frost gets the Kingmaker out of jail. Her children must be left unharmed and he is not to go anywhere near them or she'll see to it that he's put back in jail and no amount of favors will get him released.
The Hellions are going to stay at the school for the summer.
