May '05 brings comic readers the return of Hal Jordan as Green Lantern from DC, the debut of Avatar's movie monsters line by Brian Pulido, actor Bruce Campbell adapting his own Man With The Screaming Brain movie into comic form, Steve Englehart and Marshall Rogers reteaming for DC's Batman: Dark Detective, another new Marvel next title with Machine Teen, more Countdown spin-offs from DC, the return of Shadowhawk to the Image Universe, the debut of Warren Ellis' Desolation Jones, the video-game inspired City of Heroes by Mark Waid, the official comic adaptation of Batman's return to the big screen, and much more!

So what will you be checking out?

Hmmm...only DC: GL, Rann/Thanagar War, Villains United.

Damn, I skipped over Desolation Jones but I'll probably be getting that too.

I'm getting Green Lantern, Rann/Thanagar War, Stardust Kid, and Common Foe (which is for some reason missing from the poll). I'm still on the fence about getting Villains United.

Well, Man With the Screaming Brain is already on my pull list, but that's the only one I'm definately getting.
I'll probably look through a couple others at the store, though, see if I want them

Definitely Smoke.

Probably Desolation Jones and Rann/Thanagar - Countdown may have annoyed the heck out of me, but how far wrong can you go with Dave Gibbons, Green Lantern, Hawkman and Adam Strange?

There's also the Serenity Rose collection from Slave Labor. Like, yay!

I knew I forgot something: James Kochalka's Superf*ckers.

Because there are a lot of devoted fans of New X-Men here at this site. I voted for it, but I haven't made up my mind on getting the Hellions mini or not. Just wanted to show my support of New X-men in general.

I have only know of this sites existence since last year and from that point I have learned that the it is grown beyond just being an "X-men" fandom site.
I voted the for New X-Men: Hellions because I enjoy reading New X-Men and their are a lot of readers here who do as well. Not as many as other X-men books, but still a good number. Besides, I looked at the list and not of those other titles either don't interest me or I never have heard of them before now.

Me? well:

Desolation Jones #1 (Ellis/Williams III) - will it be as good as Transmet? Very interested in finding out.
Girls #1 (Luna/Luna) - new mature image title, so I'm keen
Green Lantern #1 (Johns/Pacheco) - liked Rebirth
Villains United #1 (Simone/Eaglesham) - finally DC's letting Gail write more than one title per month

I've noticed that the X-men fans ussually stay pretty quiet and don't post much on anything else. Just kinda stick to the X-men related stuff and what not. Nothing wrong with that.

Another thing that New X-Men has more votes is because Christina and Nunzio are on the forums pretty frequent, and answer lots of questions and plug thier stuff. Just a show of support I guess.

Is 'Girls' the story following 'Ultra'?

Villains United #1 (Simone/Eaglesham) - finally DC's letting Gail write more than one title per month

My thoughts exactly!

The only connection between the two is the creative team.

Well, I voted for Villains United (like a revamped Secret Society of Super-Villains), Rann/Thanagar War (assuming Adam Strange ever ends), Secret War (is it over yet?), and Stardust Kid (DeMatteis + Ploog = yay!). I might pick up Girls and Desolation Jones as well, but those will require some in-store flipping. My top choice for May would actually be Common Foe (the Keith Giffen alternative to... errr...the Anne Rice style of vampire), but once again, my favorite gets left off the list. ;)

I knew I forgot one more. Not that I even remotely trust Oni's shipping schedule, but Queen & Country Declassified Vol. 3 should be good if it actually shows up.

No option for HERO CAMP? :astound:

:D

I'm really stoked for Stardust Kid, NYC Mech: Beta Love, Desolation Jones, Man with the Screaming Brain and Girls. Probably left a few off there.

I'm such a horror junkie that the Friday 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street actually look kinda fun. I'm also getting the Secret War tie-in. The Desolation Jones might be one I pick up but I'll take a look first. Same thing with the horror books, I'll have a look first.

I'll look at Green LAntern and pick up the COuntdown tie-ins. Nothing else jumps out or is easily available to browse.

Just a thought, with both Rebirth and Supes/Batman being delayed, will GL even come out in May?

No option for HERO CAMP? :astound:

Sadly, there are alot of ommissions on the list, particularly when talking about books not published by the big 2.

Is it the same as the old one?! I loved tht old series! I only have 4 is that all there r?

Dylan McKay

It's a different person as Shadowhawk in the new series.

And I'm pretty sure there were quite a bit more than four issues in the original series, although there may have been a couple volumes.

Hellions and GL for sure!

This Smoke book looks more and more interesting everytime I see something about it. Normally (for my wallets sake) I just stick to the usual suspects from Marvel and Dark Horse (X-books & Star Wars) plus GL from DC, but this month I'll be getting a few books from outside my usual hunting grounds.

Definately Smoke like I mentioned, and the Nightmare on Elm Street & Friday the 13th specials (what can I say, I grew up on these movies!).

I'll be getting Green Lantern and the Hellions. I MIGHT pick up the Villains United book; probably just depend on my mood the day it comes out. I would get Machine Teen if it would be a regular, but since it's a mini I'm not sure. I'll definitely pick up Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street if I see them at my comic shop, which I kind of doubt. And I may check out City of Heroes.

No Smoke J.T?

no thanks, i'm trying to quit. ;)

sorry, couldn't resist. seriously, i'm looking forward to it...but with the price point on those individual issues, i think i'd be better off waiting for a collected format. plus, Kordey's art is worth having it in a premium format in my collection. :)

I'm with Jordan, it'll be easier to justify buying it as a 20/25 dollar trade.
