Written & Illustrated by: Frank Miller

So we watch Nancy and we finish off the bottle, letting its liquid darkness fill us both. When I'm sure he's had enough to make him good and dangerous I tell him about Ava and his eyes go killer red. I know he's willing to die for me, if that's what it takes.

The poor slob. I'm using him.

sorry, Blessed. but you're not allowed to link to that site, so i removed the links. but people can still go by there to check out the reviews for themselves.

A Dame To Kill For was my baptism into Sin City and it'll always hold a special place in my heart. it's much more of a straight up noir kind of story than any other told so far, so it's a pretty good introduction. i read this before i read Hard Goodbye, so i'm more familiar with Marv, the girls of Old Town, the twins, Nancy and Shellie from this book than the other. so it works on both levels...if you read Hard Goodbye first, then A Dame To Kill For has some cool nods to that story. if you read Dame first, then Hard Goodbye's almost as much of a sequel as Big Fat Kill.

Dwight's probably my favorite character in Sin City. there's a somewhat warped and twisted sense of honor and chivalry about him. If Marv's the berserker and Hartigan's the old Western lawman, then Dwight is the knight of Sin City. the romantic. a good guy constantly thrown into bad situations so he has to do bad things for good reasons. I just love it. I also love that he's smart. Marv and Hartigan are tough guys who can take a lot of damage and dish it out. and Dwight's tough to be sure, but he also thinks things through a lot more. he's more clever and rather than barreling through a problem or standing his ground, he'll usually find a way to "cheat" the problem. and Ava...damn, Ava's just sexy. femme fatale to the bone. she plays men like instruments and just creates this sinister symphony. and of course...Manute. he would be a sycophantic weasel if it weren't for the fact that he's 8 feet tall and could crush your head with one hand. i love that we get to see him again as well. just one of those characters you like to revisit and see pop up from time to time. :)

Like this one more than the first, though either way both are a fantastic read. Miller's DKR and Sin City, made me buy almost anything Miller writes like 300, Give Me Liberty, Hard Boiled. Btw, great review, Ryan. Even before I saw the trailer, I want to see Sin City, it looks like this movie will be done right.

I have to say that after "The Hard Goodbye" this was a tiny bit of a disappointment. Although more focused I found it lacking the energy of the 1st volume, and Dwight as a character is not as interesting as Marv. Still this was a great read, and the plot is defintely one of the strongest.
