Which villain do you think Thomas Haden Church will play in Spider-Man 3?

Following the announcement that Thomas Haden Church would be Spidey's nemesis in the third Spider-Man movie, speculation has run rife as to which villain he'll be portraying. Venom? Sandman? Chameleon? Vulture? Who do you think/hope he'll be bringing to life on the big screen?

Cardiac? CARDIAC? Cardiac's black. Church isn't. Although, Michael Clarke Duncan did play the Kingpin. I'll give you Tombstone. At least he's albino. But, Cardiac? No way. I don't really care one way or the other. It's not like I'm going to go see the movie. Anyway, I voted for Lizard.

Lizzard would be good, but seeing as he's already in the film, cant really see them choosing another option, but you never know.

Sandman's my number one option. Scorpion comes in close at number 2. no way is it Lizard and highly doubtful that it's Venom. Dear god, please no Carnage.

Yep im going with Sand Man to, and please dont quote me but im sure i read somwhere that the Sand Man was one of Sam's fav villians, whether this was a subtle hint or not well we'll just have to wait and see.

you're quite correct. Sam Raimi has gone on the record elsewhere as saying Sandman is one of his favorite villains, and i think Tobey Maguire might've said something similar.

i think Scorpion would be a really cool villain to use as long as the costume designers were able to make him look cool enough. but like i said, he's my number 2 choice. i just think there could be a really compelling story there, especially with Jameson involved.

well I'm also voting for Sandman, it seems to be the safest option although one can wonder, if the forst 2 spidey movies were featured with classic spidey villains, why have sandman in the third? sure, he's dangerous so that¿s why my second option wpuld be Electro or maybe Raimi would like to develop sandman as a definite theat which he is.

Hrmm, the more I think about it, with a shaved head he could look to be a good Electro. Some how I get this nagging feeling he's gonna be Eddie Brock and become Venom. But Venom would get complicated because you would have to explain why he took the form of Spider-man, and hates him so much. Well I guess it can all stem from Eddie, but giving the symbiote a life of it's own makes for an interesting story.

personally, i think if they go Venom it'd be better to use John Jameson as the host since we already have some pre established hatred towards Peter Parker there. we don't have to build up an Eddie Brock. that's IF they use Venom, which i doubt they will...i think Raimi has said he's not a fan.

as for Electro...i find it doubtful. after Storm's lightning effects and the upcoming electrical powers of Dr. Doom (which is about the only thing i'm taking issue with on the FF film), i doubt they'd want to go for another electricity effect. might seem too redundant. plus...Electro's just lame. ;)

If Harry becomes the Hobgoblin and joins the Sinister Six, in my mind the movies would have officially jumped the shark and destroyed any chance of me going to see them. To think, Harry Osborn could compete with the world's only supervillain fashion designer.

The people going to see this movie don't care about Smythe at all. They're not diehard Spider-fans and don't have a clue as to who Smythe is. It's not going to be him. Most you'll get from Smythe is his name mentioned somewhere if at all.

Yay i'm a Spider-man fanboy without ever reading a Spider-man comic :dance:

Really the only knowledge I have of spider-man (and Smythe for that matter) is the 90's series which I haven't seen since the 90's.
and except Scorpion and maybe Venom he's not that much more obscure then the rest of these charcters for non-comic readers.
about the audience caring about Smythe will if they make him good enough then people will care about him.

Kraven's an interesting idea, too. Personally, though, UNLESS the quality starts to suffer, I could handle more than 3 movies... even though studies show that interest wanes after 3...

I think he would make a good Sandman based off his previous work. Raimi has said in the past Sandman is one of his favorites.
I'd like to see how 'Sandy' would fit into the story considering he has never really been that major of a villian.

I would like to see a CGI Venom though. He makes more sense.

Well, there is slim to no chance that Venom will be the villian basically because Sony doesn't own the rights to that of Venom. But, if Sony was smart they would some how find a way to get these "rights." The ultimate villian would be Venom but it's most likely going to be Sandman.
