With the recent revival of the Official Handbook of The Marvel Universe, who are you hoping will get their own OHOTMU in the near future?

I'd REAAAAALLY like to see an Thunderbolts one in time for New TBOLTS
Make sure it included the original team, the Redeemers, Hawks T-Bolts from Becoming... and the new team
The possibly a second X-volume with the subsidury teams like X-Force, New Mutants etc

For gawds sake, somebody get Marvel to do handbooks for Thunderbolts and X-Force!

Gotta be the Fantastic Four! They have a long and rich history - it would make for a very interesting reed. (heh, Reed...y'know, it's funny 'cause...ach, forget it!)

I voted New Mutants amoug few others. But is that the original New Mutants or the New Mutants vol.2 characters? .... Well say both groups need to be detail in a Handbook. I seen a lot of posters ask the same questions over and over again. I would be nice if Marvel out with a Handbook for lessor know X-characters.

I'd rather that there be a OHOTMU for the Exiles. The characters are far more interesting then in any other of the X-teams on the list (in my opinion).

I'm little pivved by your comment. You sound like no other team deserve an Handbook. While, they do. It is not that only one should get one or the others should. All should. In retrospect, maybe Marvel should release a Handbook DVD for detailing all characters.
EDIT:
There is something screwy with this site. The first part of this message was
posted more than 2 minutes ago. More like an hour. But when you see listing of latest postings, it keeps saying I posted this thing 2 minutes ago. What gives?

i've also voted for thunderbolts, which would be great to have in a handbook with all the stuff that has happened in their title, the heroes reborn era, their villanous pasts; even the ww2 people who kept coming around after issue 40s and the nomad and CSA and all...
but you know what i would have liked more? a spider-girl handbook!!! (a mc2 one in fact, concentrating on mayday, ofcourse..) i mean it would be great to have more attention on her and more original art work and the book could be so much fun!!
is it possible to add an option to this poll with her name on it?

There’s no doubt in my mind as to which series is most deserving of a handbook. Thunderbolts, the REAL Thunderbolts, ran for 75 issues (more if you count the flashback issue, annuals, and the various one shots and minis) despite getting absolutely no support from it’s publisher. While other comics gained new readers through things like dotcomics and having the letter “X” on the cover this book was able to quietly plod along for six years with only the strength of the stories contained within it to sustain it. Imagine how huge New Thunderbolts could be if Marvel actually supported it this time around. It’s about darn time the Thunderbolts got a handbook.
Distant secondary choices include – in alphabetical order – 2099, Captain America, Cosmic Powers, and Obscure characters (especially villains. There aren’t nearly enough villains in the handbooks so far and the villain selection in the Spider-Man book was a joke). Speaking of that, I’d also love to have a Spider-Man handbook that doesn’t suck (what the heck was up with using all those forgettable JMS characters like Morlun and Digger instead of Stan Lee classics like the Chameleon and Morbius?).

I voted for several, but in order: Obscure characters, New Mutants, Exiles, X-Force, and Thunderbolts. The first two are the ones I'd really like to see :excited:
Obscure characters usually didn't have much bio in them even in the Encyclopedia (which I love btw), and many others didn't even get mentioned (Revanche, Shard, Fixx, Greystone, Gaia, Mondo, among others), though its understandable because its a lot to do. I chose New Mutants as a close second because I loved the characters from that series (actually both series).
And one that wasn't listed: I think they should have a handbook for all (or as much as possible) the students at the Institute.

I agree. I voted for the obscure characters because they are the ones I know hardly anything about. If at all possible, I would like absolutely everything included, every character, universe, etc...but choosing one I had to go with the obscure characters.

Yes that info would be great to have. Learning more about obscure characters would be very helpful.

All of them would be great to see really (well, maybe not Marvel Age ;) ) but i would say Fantastic Four and Obscure chracters probably the most given the history of the one and the intresting elements of the second.

Not wanting to speak for the OHOTMU Spidey crew, but I daresay its because Chameleon and Morbius have had entries in Handbooks past before and there may not have been a whole lot to add to them, whereas new characters like Morlun and Digger hadn't had their chance to be spotlighted in an OHOTMU.
Personally, I thought it was cool as I knew nothing about those characters before and now, thanks to the OHOTMU, I do. That's what I love about these new OHOTMUs, being able to spotlight classic characters whilst featuring the newbies as well.

I think we need a handbook of the X-Men villains! There were/are so many X-Men that the handbook just didn't have room for villains! It'd be great to have a companion piece that featured Magneto, Mystique, Pyro, Sinister, Juggernaut, Avalanche, Exodus, Apocalypse, Sauron, Sabertooth, Proteus, Dark Phoenix, Omega Red, Shadow King, and then newer villains like Ord, The Fury, and Cassandra Nova. Or if Marvel didn't want a villain only book, it could just be an X-Men companion piece with the big villains like Magneto, Mystique, Apocalypse, Sabes, Sinister, etc. and also include entries for mainstays like Banshee, Cable, Forge, Deadpool, Domino, Dazzler, Colossus, etc.

I went for "obscure characters." It seems to cover a lot of canon, and a canon that doesn't change often. Books like X-Force and New Mutants would be pretty small (unless you combine the two, and go back over the ENTIRE New Mutants history), and books like Exiles add way too much every storyarc to have a comprehensive guide. I'd rather not have to buy updates every year or so.
I would've liked--from the beginning--that the X-Men book be broken up so that you could put more characters in there and have more than just a mug shot and some power listings (if even that much).
Even Captain America or Fantastic Four would be nice, since it has remained centralized (static?) over the years, and you really could put some meat on that hardcover spine.

A lot of us missed out on the handbooks the first time arounf and the fact is that even if they have…well the characters can change a lot in the time since the last handbooks came out.
whereas new characters like Morlun and Digger hadn't had their chance to be spotlighted in an OHOTMU.

*shrug*
You could always just read the six comics that Morlun was in and the four that Digger was in. Both of those are readily available in trade form. I’d imagine that you could still get them over at X-World, Amazon, or virtually any “real life” book or comic store for fewer than forty bucks. Try to find all of, say, Rocket Racer’s appearances somewhere for that price.
I think that, until they stat doing comprehensive handbooks with everyone in them, handbook status ought to be reserved for characters who’ve actually had an impact on continuity and some sort of history. People like those I’ve named before, Kraven (I&II), Mysterio (I&II), the later Green Goblins, the Prowler, Puma, Silver Sable, the Slingers, and even the Looter have had more of that than Morlin and Digger have.

My preference would be for obscure characters because we could learn more about them...that's the whole point no? Most of us know plenty about the fan faves already anyway.
And if writers learn more about them they'll be more likely to use them instead of inventing even more lame characters. There's so much wasted potential out there.

I'm hoping that this Phoenix mini coming out will finally bring a separation between Jean and Phoenix once and for all. But for all we know, it could be the reverse.
But I do think the The Phoenix Force itself deserves it's own entry and background history. It wouldn't even have to be long at all actually. Leave the longer bios to the humans :)

yeah i know but atleast give the Phoenix an ENTRY. i mean it was the one who was Dark Phoenix and Stuff and it was the one killed by Magneto/Xorn.
maddie needs a bigger entry and so does Rachel.

Books like X-Force and New Mutants would be pretty small (unless you combine the two, and go back over the ENTIRE New Mutants history),
New Mutants has plent to cover. Mirage, Karma, Cannonball, Sunspot, Wolfsbane, Magma, Rictor, Meltdown, Warpath, Tarot, Catseye, Roulette, Empath, Jetstream, Beef, Bevatron, Warlock, Cypher, Rusty, Magik, Skids, Firestar, and I think I missed a few. But that's with the Hellions included, who I wish did get longer bios as well.
Speaking of New Mutants, I'd also like to see one over New X-Men: Academy X, and more in-depth bios on other students, such as Morrison's kids and the students from X-Treme. I think it'd be great for say, after, the conclusion of the second arc of NXM. And I got this from Seventh Sense, but you could add just a power description or maybe a real name or codename for characters that have only cameod or have been seen in the background.
Btw, does this mean that a Handbook from one of the options could be in development (or soon-to-be)?

Well it's a tight race between the Exiles and Obscure Characters but I still am going with Obscure Characters. I have all of Exiles so I can just crack them open for any references I need but it's not that easy with obsure characters because there's generally not a centralized place you can go to get their history and bio. Just my 2 cents.

My vote (big shock here) is for Alpha Flight. If for no other reason, because of the many characters the team has had over the years that have seen very little attention outside of the Alpha Flight book it's self. It would help a lot of newer fans understand what has gone into this very diverse team over the years.

How could it not be The Fantastic Four? No, seriously. Then, maybe, Thor. We have to base this on importance to the Marvel Universe. The fact is, the X-Men, the Avengers, Spider-Man, Cap, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Fantastic Four, and Daredevil are pretty much the A-List of the Marvel Universe. The characters that must have titles and attention, if tradition and history are to be given the proper respect. And the Marvel Handbook is all about giving titles the proper respect. Not obscure characters (wouldn't that be called the Appendix or the Index of the Marvel Handbook anyway?) and sure as hell not the Exiles, and I have no idea what the hell made all you pick them.

The team in general terms was, but not the individual characters to my knowledge. With 25 years of history there have been a heck of a lot of members, not all of which were even mentioned as being former members in wolverine's handbook.

Every character that has been a member of Alpha Flight is listed in their entry in the Wolvie OHOTMU. The only ones not listed are the Beta and Gamma Flight members.
If Marvel were to greenlight an Alpha Flight OHOTMU, then I'd definitely be putting my hand up to write it having followed the team from their inception right through to the current series!

Even though the poll is closed, I'd say Obscure Characters or Villains. Just because it would be great fun to have them. Besides, I'm biased. I'd love a good entry on Belle or Black Tom (though my website already has a four-page bio on him...must tone down the obsession). I love my minor characters. Maybe an entry on Jeffrey Garret, Revanche, Cece Reyes or Threnody? Sorry, I only know the X-Men characters...
