Profile: Following his departure from the X-Men, the mutant thief Gambit began his own organization to strike at Apocalypse's empire. From the tunnels under Manhattan, Gambit and his cadre, the X-Ternals, would raid storage facilities belonging to Apocalypse and disrupt his supply lines. Taking what they can steal, the X-Ternals and their liaison, Lila Cheney, sends these goods to the humans who suffered under the yoke of their mutant dictators. Continuing their roles as bandits, the X-Ternals aided the X-Men's efforts to end Apocalypse's hold on the world and their final mission would determine the outcome of the war.

History: Following another raid on the Infinites, the X-Ternals met up with their leader Gambit, who was in a meeting with the X-Men's founder, Magneto. From the result of that meeting, the X-Ternals will travel across the galaxy to the Shi'ar Empire and steal the M'Kraan Crystal, in hopes that their world will change back to a better one. The X-Ternals broke into Apocalypse's Science Chamber, and their ally Peter Corbeau used the equipment there to trigger Lila's teleportation abilities. As Lila opened a portal, the Infinites attacked the X-Ternals. The Infinites' commanding officer Rictor followed the band of rogues through the portal to a distant planet.

Upon their arrival on an alien world, the X-Ternals ran afoul of the Shi'ar Empire's Imperial Guard. They barely escaped the Imperial Guard, their new ally Rictor, and the destruction of the planet when they were rescued by the Starjammers. From the Starjammers, the X-Ternals learned that the damaged M'Kraan Crystal is slowly destroying their universe. Both teams then passed by the Shi'ar fleet undetected and transported to the world where the crystal was kept. Fighting through the empire's army, the X-Ternals made it to the crystal and its guardian, Jahf. Jahf knew the dangers being caused by the broken crystal and allowed Gambit to take a piece of it. Sunspot absorbed the energies from the crystal and was dying from taking too much power, so the X-Ternals were forced to leave him behind and Lila opened a portal back to Earth. Just like the first time Lila used her powers, Rictor followed the X-Ternals through, in hopes of having them captured.

Immediately after returning to Earth, the X-Ternals were pursued by Rictor. While being chased through the sewers, the X-Ternals split up and the members Guido Carosella and Jubilee came across Charles Lensherr, the infant son of Magneto and Rogue. There, Guido revealed that he was really working for Apocalypse and took both Charles and the crystal shard. When Gambit and Lila learned of what Guido had done, they were too late to stop him as Rictor created an avalanche in the tunnels. Unable to go after Rictor and Guido, the X-Ternals trekked to the X-Men's home to inform them of what happened. Afterwards, Gambit and Jubilee joined the X-Men in one last strike against Apocalypse.

Think it should be mentioned somewhere that Lila wasn't originally a member until she discovered she was a mutant. She was just a liaison between the humans and the X-Ternals.

You can be a member of one groups and still be a liaison between two groups.

Oops, I meant "officially" not "originally".
