<B>Powers:</B> The Mole Man possesses no true superhuman powers, but due to his long exposure to subterranean living conditions, he has developed adequate vision in dark places as well as hyper-sensitive hearing and touch and a type of pseudo-radar sense. His costume serves as protection against heat, fire, and lava. The Mole Man's staves produce electrical discharges, flames, blinding light bursts, and shockwaves.
In our reality, the Mole Man himself was shunned and ridiculed since childhood because of his bizarre physical appearance. Believing that total loneliness would be better than the cruelty shown to him by other people, the Mole Man decided to exile himself from humanity on an island he named Monster Isle where he discovered a cavern leading deep underground. There, the Mole Man made himself ruler of a wide empire in the underground realm he called Subterranea. In this underground world he discovered a race of semihumanoid creatures called Subterraneans. The Mole Man controls the race known as the Moloids, which are distinguished from other Subterranean races by their pale yellow skin color. He first intended to take his revenge on the surface world's population by destroying Earth's power plants and unleashing his monsters, but was thwarted by the Fantastic Four in their first mission.

The Mole Man and his creatures dragged an enormous bomb for the better part of four hours beneath Galactus and detonated the explosive, bringing the forcefiled down. At the great sacrifice of their home, the Mole Man and his minion's granted the heroes of Earth their chance to defeat the devourer of planets.
