Shinobi Shaw became the Black King of the Hellfire Club following his father's death at the hands of the Sentinels. With Psylocke, who was the Red Queen, Shaw had the Inner Circles of New York and London merged together. Shaw intended to take control of the world from the Sentinels, using a device called the Cataclysm Engine. With this engine, Shaw could create any natural disaster on the planet at any given time. He, Psylocke and Baron Zemo had the Cataclysm Engine constructed at the Hoover Dam, and used the Scarlet Witch's abilities to power it.
When Shinobi started using the Cataclysm Engine on various Sentinel locations, he, the Hellfire Club and Zemo were attacked by Magneto and the X-Men. Shaw's plans quickly fell apart, and he tried to escape. Shinobi was caught by Magneto, and he then turn intangible to avoid him. Shaw's mutant ability became his demise as Magneto used his power to disperse Shaw into molecules.
