Entries in this forum of the S.H.I.E.L.D. files will differ slightly based on the nature of the title. Because it would be cumbersome to adopt the traditional naming system whereby multiple characters with the same name are listed with Roman Numerals (i.e.: Phoenix I, Phoenix II, Phoenix III, Phoenix IV, etc.).
Through Issue #45, the Exiles will have either visited or mentioned at least 70 alternate universes and, if we were to follow the traditional naming system, we could have up to seventy different entries for different versions of the Phoenix if a version of Phoenix appeared in each of these dimensions.
As such, Exiles profiles will differe slightly from normal S.H.I.E.L.D Files in that:
1) Entries will encompass all appearances of any given individual in all realities. That is, all appearances of Wolverine will not be labeled Wolverine I, Wolverine II, Wolverine III, etc., but will instead all be contained in one single Wolverine thread. These entries will be sorted in the order of the appearance of their origin reality.
2) The only deviation from this format will be at the exception of members of the Exiles, Weapon X, or other characters who exist outside of or are unhinged from time. While these biographies will still include all variations within the thread, the first entry will be that of the time displaced member and the appearances noted will be those of the version that joined the Exiles/Weapon X/etc. First and last appearances will only be applicable in these cases.
3) For characters who have adopted multiple codenames over the years, the predominately used codename in Exiles will be used. For example, Henry Pym is known as Ant-Man, Giant Man, Goliath, as well as Yellowjacket. Because most of his appearances in Exiles are as Giant Man, his thread will be labeled Giant Man. However, to help visitors to discern that this Giant Man is Henry Pym, a description beneath his entry will denote all other codenames used in the Mainstream Universe. Therefore, Henry Pym's entry will be labeled: Giant Man (Ant-Man I/Giant Man I/Goliath I/Yellowjacket I )
4) In the case that characters who share the same predominate codenames, but have used no other codenames exist, real names will be used in the inserted description to differentiate between the two. For instance, there are two Spider-Women who have appeared in Exiles thus far, one is Jessica Drew and the other Mary Jane Watson. In this case, the threads will be labeled: Spider-Woman (Drew, Jessica) and Spider-Woman (Watson, Mary Jane)
5) Thread description will also entail names for characters that were used only in Exiles. During Exiles #8-10, the Human Torch is referred to as Storm Torch. As such, the profile for Johnny Storm will read: Human Torch (Storm Torch) so that readers who do not read books aside from Exiles will be able to look up character information.
6) For the most part, appearances only cover those occuring within Exiles books.
Lastly, it should be mentioned that the biographies written for characters that are prefixed "in our reality" are not meant to be complete or absolute in any way, but merely to present the average reader with enough information to be knowledgeable of the character. For more information about any character in the Mainstream Universe, please refer to the main directory of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Files.
