Plot: Carnage and his associates go on a killing spree, and it takes the combined might of Spider-Man, Venom, and a team of New York heroes to stop them.

Reading Order:

Part 1 - Spider-Man Unlimited (1st Series) #1 [First Story] - Carnage and Shriek escape a mental institution, team up with the Spider Doppleganger, and start killing people. Spider-Man fights them but is badly beaten.
Part 2 - Web of Spider-Man #101 - Cloak and Dagger come to Spider-Man’s aid and drive the villains away, but Dagger is seemingly killed.
Part 3 - Amazing Spider-Man (1st Series) #378 - Spider-Man fights Demogoblin while Venom fights Carnage and company.
Part 4 - Spider-Man (1st Series) #35 - Demogoblin joins forces with Carnage. Spider-Man, Venom, the Black Cat and Cloak form an uneasy alliance to combat the villains.
Part 5 - Spectacular Spider-Man (1st Series) #201 - Spider-Man ends the alliance since Venom (and the others) intend to kill Carnage. Spider-Man encounters a riot, and is deeply distressed at his inability to calm the rioters down.
Part 6 - Web of Spider-Man #102 - Venom recruits Morbius. Everyone gets into a battle but Carnage escapes by endangering civilians for the others to save.
Part 7 - Amazing Spider-Man (1st Series) #379 - Carnage kills some more people, beats up Deathlok, and recruits Carrion. Meanwhile Spider-Man rejoins Venom’s team, gets a sonic weapon from the Fantastic Four, and recruits Firestar.
Part 8 - Spider-Man (1st Series) #36 - Everyone fights. Venom has a chance to finish Carnage, but Spider-Man prevents his using lethal force and allows Carnage to recover. Elsewhere Iron Fist and Deathlok join forces to track Carnage down.
Part 9 - Spectacular Spider-Man (1st Series) #202 - Neither Spider-Man or Firestar are willing to kill Carnage to stop him. Venom is overpowered and captured.
Part 10 - Web of Spider-Man #103 - Carnage and Shriek torture Venom. Nightwatch joins Morbius, Cloak and the Black Cat in fighting Carnage’s underlings, while Spider-Man and Firestar join up with Iron Fist, Deathlok and Captain America.
Part 11 - Amazing Spider-Man (1st Series) #380 - Everybody fights everybody. Shriek incites more riots, and gets the rioters to attack Spider-Man and friends.
Part 12 - Spider-Man (1st Series) #37 - The heroes fight off the crowd while trying to get them to safety. Cloak returns, joined by Dagger, who is alive after all. The Spider Doppleganger is killed.
Part 13 - Spectacular Spider-Man #203 - Spider-Man fights Carnage alone until the other heroes can use a device on Carnage, which seemingly kills him. Of course he survived, and attacks Spider-Man and Venom once everyone else has gone.
Part 14 - Spider-Man Unlimited (1st Series) #2 [First & Second Story] - Spider-Man, Venom and Carnage fight, and the Black Cat gets involved as well. Carnage is beaten and taken into custody, and Venom escapes.

Spider-Man Unlimited (1st Series) #1 is Shriek’s first appearance.
The Spider Doppleganger was the sole leftover from the Infinity War, where doppelgangers of nearly every Marvel hero were created by Magus.
Nightwatch is a minor hero who first appeared in Web of Spider-Man #97.
