The metaphor doesn't work, sorry. The law is the law, and you are held accountable for the laws you broke when the law was in existence. This would be like if alcohol were illegal, and you ask, "Is it okay to drink a pepsi?", and they say, "Sure." and then the next thing you know, you're fined for drinking it.
PS. Can't really say anything related to trigger happy when you give hte go ahead to do anything to the thread with phrases like "Hopefully I have this in the right place. If not, I have no problem with a mod moving it or whatnot."
Sure I gave the go ahead - and I admitted it was fine. But my point was that this site is heavily moderated. I showed several instances of moderation to prove it. I never, at any time, said that moderation was a bad thing, only that it occurs a lot more here than anywhere else.
looking at the end of the thread, the only thing i could see from a mod saying to "quit it" was Zach P saying
if that's who told you to "quit it" then don't get mad if i chuckle a bit first. I laugh and chuckle here becaue Zach P is an openly gay person. Also looking through the thread's info, it has Joel listed as the person who locked it. (PS. The starters of the v5 of that very thread is Jason Arellano, ANOTHER openely gay moderator)
So he's gay...and you're point is? My point was that we were talking about relationships, and when we started talking about certain gay relationship, the mod asked us to stop, and then, within the same day, the thread was shut down. Maybe it was a coincidence, but you can understand where I'm coming from when all of this occurs in order.
and to be honest, the X-Treme thread had reached 1000 replies and always manages to restart around that point. It's one of hte fastest threads in replies and gets opened an closed fast.
That's cool. But I'm new, and it just seemed to me that the fact that it got closed so soon after I questioned a Mod for his actions was way too coincidental.
call me niave, but we're heavily moderated because we have 80+ forums of constant discussion going at all hours of the day.
Good, I'm glad you can admit that you are heavily moderated. Then we have nothing further to discuss, really, since that was my entire point. Heavy moderation = trigger happiness to me.
yes, thank you. If you'd like to continue more on the topic of mods and their roles on the site, you are welcome to it but in another thread over at the Fans @ ComiX-Fan forum.
Here ya go. Made one here. NOT to condescend the hard work, or patronize anyone, but only to point out my side of this so I don't look like an idiot for expressing my opinion. :D
I still don't get that one mod can tell you one thing and it's possible to get in trouble for it through another mod. You should really have a set of *specific* rules to follow through and have all the mods very clear on them so there's no room for error like this.
It wouldn't be such a big thing, but I'm scared to death of getting Warning Points now for doing something I didn't know I wasn't supposed to do.
