Was curious, does anyone else have to login more than once before posting? It seems to happen to me 2 out of 3 times. Not a huge deal (only takes an extra minute), but wondering if it's a common thing or if my family jinx?

Maybe your computer is set to delete cookies after a certain number of minutes. You might want to look into that.

For some reason I am not staying logged in. I checked my options menu and it's still on "Automatically log in" (I never changed it). But for some reason, I don't stay logged in. This just started recently (like this weekend), and I don't know if it's a problem on my end or if other people are having the same problem.
I haven't changed anything on my computer. Any suggestions?

I have the exact same problem! What's up with these multiple logins anyway??

I'm not sure, but try this because I experienced the same problem yesterday when I tried logging on with a computer that had XP.
1. Open up Internet Explorer
2. Go to the TOOLS menu
3. Go to Internet Options
4. Go to Privacy
5. Go to Advance
6. Check the "Override Automatic Cookie Handling" box
7. Check the "Accept all cookies" option
8. Check the "Always accept Session Cookies" box
At least, that's how it is on XP (I just got XP on my computer at Work and that's how I had to set up the brower so I wouldnt have to keep logging in..VERY irritating)
I dont know if that would be the same procedure for Win ME, 98, etc...as i've never experienced that problem with those Operating Systems.

Thanks AnthonyL, actually it IS my computer because it's happening for other websites (they won't keep my preferences or log-in). I don't know what happened but this JUST started happening last weekend. I tried what you advised (although the options are different...I have "security" not "privacy". It has enable for both per-session cookies and allowing cookies.

Um,...I'd like ask two questions if that's alright (I'm gonna cut down on my stupid outbursts).
1.) What ever happened to the birthdays that usually come up when logged on? I don't know if it's my computer or not, so I'm just curious. 2.) I posted just recently on the "Psylocke" thread and my siganture didn't show up. Was it in violation of rules or something because I wasn't PM or are y'all cutting down for bandwith.
Thanks if y'all can help. ;) I don't like being left in the dark. Once my mom's credit gets better, I'll try to donate.

If you've noticed, Eric's upgraded the vBulletin boards to a current version. Whenever we do that, the boards become "naked" -- so to speak -- and all hacks must be reinstalled once more. Eric has a long prioritised list of hacks to implement, and probably hasn't gotten to that particular one yet.

To save on space, sigs show up once per page. That is, it's in your first post, but not in subsequent posts, on that particular page. It's been this way for a year now.

I agree about saving space by not using the poster's sig in the smae page they have posted in. And I'm glad Eric has the site refreshed and back online.

I was just going to ask about the sig thing. That's a great idea, now that I know it's not a problem with my comp or something. :)
But it only started to do it for me, today. All the time before that I was getting everyone's sigs in every post. Weird. That wasn't really a question, just a quirky observation. :D

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but between last night and today I lost 20 of my posts. I don't normally keep track of my #'s, but I looked over at it last night and then this morning it went from 242 to 221. This isn't the first time this has happened, but that seems like a lot to disappear.

Without sounding too jerky, is there any explanation why this message keeps popping up every time i try to enter the forums:
The X-Fan Web site is currently experiencing heavy traffic which is interrupting our normal service. We apologize for the delay, and ask that you please try again later.
I dont mind, but as far as i can see there is no heavy traffic since as im typing this there are about 30 people online.
Its happening all the time nowadays every time i try to enter a new forum, sometimes refreshing works instantly sometimes it can take up to 5 minutes to get into a forum.
Any help? Thanks in advance

Don't forget that there are people who have their online prescence turned off, so they can be on the forums but not showing up in the current users online section.

Xgene's right. Looking at the stastics, take the amount of online posters you see on the list, add about half of that number (to include people who are invisible), then take all that together and multiply by two (to include those who browse the forums without an account as "guests"), and you roughly have the number of connections at any given time.
So say there are about 30 registered members you can see online, there's actually about 90 connections.
As for that annoying message, well, it's just something we have to tolerate till Eric can afford more server space and bandwidth so there's a higher limit.

Okay, I'm new at this. I've figured out what most of the little envelopes mean, you know, the ones on a forum page when you are looking at all the threads. After all, there's a kind of key at the bottom. But they are not all there. What's the envelope with a hole in the middle mean? (I see it on Longbox and Cordially Chris, among others.)
And why do some threads have little sticky notes next to the name, and some don't?
I looked for answers on the FAQ and couldn't find any.
Okay, stupid question time is over.

I never really thought about that one before. It looks like those are just threads that have more than 15 replies and 150 views rather than just one of the two.
And why do some threads have little sticky notes next to the name, and some don't?
The threads with the sticky notes are threads that a moderator or administrator decided was important enough that it should be permanently stuck to the top of the page rather than having it buried under more recent threads.

I have a question but don't know where else to ask it, so I'll just ask it here (hope that's ok). What happens when you subscribe to a thread? I've subscribed once and I thought you're supposed to get e-mail notifications but I never did. So, I'm just wondering...what does subscribing to a thread do/mean? Thanks in advance and sorry if this isn't the right place for the question. :)

When you subscribe to some threads and then go into your User CP all the threads that have new posts in them since you last visited appear. You will also get email notifications if that option is turned on in your user cp. Hope that helps, though it probably didn't. ;)

Your points are directly related to your post count. Every time one of your posts is deleted you lose five points. Since we have to periodically delete old threads to free up space you may occasionally see a drop in your points.
