Exodus was rescued by Magneto from one of Apocalypse's research plants runned by the Madri. He joined the X-Men and learned more about his powers under Magneto's tutelage. Magneto feared about Exodus learning too much about his powers, and might become corrupted like Apocalypse. With the X-Men, Exodus looked up to Magneto, and had a romantic relationship with Dazzler.

From his final lesson from Magneto, Exodus teleported the X-Men led by Quicksilver to Maine where the Sentinel evacuation was commencing. When it was revealed that the Sentinels were reprogrammed by the Brotherhood, Exodus killed three of their members and protected Dazzler and Quicksilver from the Sentinels. When Storm and Quicksilver left to confront Abyss, Exodus and the other X-Men reconfigured the Sentinels to help them evacuate the human refugees.

Upon returning home, the X-Men found it recently attacked. Quicksilver sent Exodus and Dazzler to find Magneto's son Charles in the Morlock tunnels. Instead of Charles, Exodus and Dazzler found the remains of Nanny and later the remaining X-Ternals.
