Son of Noah Synge, leader of the Greater Nevada Syndicate and owner/operator of the Synge Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Lytton had his father killed to prevent him cutton Lytton out of his will, thus allowing Lytton to illegally inherit his fathers position and interests.
Lytton had framed Xi'an, leader of the X-Men of 2099, for his father's murder. He recruited Junkpile to betray the X-Men and assist in an assassination attempt on Xi'an. However, after his sister Desdemona learned of his plan, Lytton lost control of the Casino to her and was locked in isolation pending a Syndicate Tribunal.
Lytton was addicted to a drug named Shriek which provided him with a quick fix of courage whenever he needed it.
