First Appearance: X-Men 2099 #1 (as Tim Fitzgerald), X-Men 2099 #7 (as Skullfire)
Group Affiliation: X-Men 2099
Major Enemies: Undead, Theater of Pain, formerly Lunática
Born with the mutant ability to drain, store, and project uncontrollable waves of devastating power, Tim Fitzgerald lived in constant fear of hurting innocent people. His whole life was changed, though, when he accepted an invitation from Shakti Haddad, a.k.a. the mutant known as Cerebra, to attend a public address by mutant activist Xi'an Chi Xan.
Foiling an assassination attempt on Xi'an, Tim was offered membership in Xi'an's team of mutant protectors, the X-Men of the year 2099. Tim accepted, and later adopted the codename Skullfire.
Though insecure when he first joined the team, Skullfire's stronger, darker side later emerged thanks to the manipulations of the psychic vampire named Lunática. After Xi'an left the X-Men to join the sadistic Theater of Pain, Skullfire, now in full control of his powers, took over as leader of the team.
After the X-Men established Halo City as their new safe haven for mutants, Skullfire was attacked and killed by his deceased teammjate Serpentina who had been resurrected by the Graverobber. However, Skullfire later returned as a being composed purely of energy.
