Cause of Death: presumably killed by Mystique
Callisto was the captain of the freighter which offered the passengers of the submarine "Excalibur" to provide them save passage to Avalon when the "Excalibur" was unable to continue its voyage.
As Nightcrawler -- who, unbeknownst to Callisto, had been aboard the "Excalibur" as well and was hiding on the freighter -- soon found out, Callisto and her crew had no interest in bringing anybody to Avalon: After ordering the refugees to hide in an unused ballast tank and taking their valuables "for cover", Callisto had the ballast tank flooded, which killed all of the passengers.
Nightcrawler then took out Callisto's crew, but was overwhelmed by the pirate captain when he confronted her. However, Nightcrawler's mother Mystique suddenly appeared on the scene, and moments later, Callisto was dead.
