The Wendigo is an ancient curse bestowed on anyone who devours human flesh in the wilds of Hudson Bay in Canada. The young mutant named Wild Thing accompanied her father Wolverine and the gamma-spawned powerhouse known as the Hulk to Hudson Bay with Earth's former Sorceror Supreme, Doctor Strange, who hoped to cast a spell to remove the curse of the Wendigo from the land.
Heading off on her own, Wild Thing encountered a dozen of the creatures, but was soon aided by Wolverine and the Hulk. With the successful casting of the spell by Doctor Strange, the Wendigoes reverted to their human form, those of a troop of missing Boy Scouts who had eaten their Scoutmaster, thus causing them to each turn into a Wendigo.
