Young Zane Yama discovered that he had inherited the powers of his father, the unstoppable Juggernaut, after an encounter with school bully Miller Hallendale. These powers, gained from the mystical Ruby of Cyttorak, imbue the wielder with vast strength and durability. Through an act of will, Zane can transform himself into the hulking powerhouse known as J2, and back again.

A member of the next generation of Avengers known as A-Next, J2 was also offered membership with Jubilee's Uncanny X-People but turned them down, albeit remaining friends with the team. J2 was also offered by Magneta, the self-styled mistress of magnetism, to join a new team she was forming, but he also turned down that offer.

J2 learned of the reason behind his father's disappearance from Cyclops, leader of the X-Men, and with the aid of the Sorceror Supreme Doc Magus, J2 eventually located and rescued his father, who was being held prisoner by the sinister Nemesus in an alternate dimension.

Although not as indestructible as his father, Zane still has enhanced strength and durability, so much so that he has managed to stand toe to toe with the likes of the Hulk. J2 is also granted a heightened resistance to psionic powers thanks to his father's mystically enchanted helmet.

His list of relatives could be expanded a bit to include Kurt Marko and Charles Xavier.

It should be mentioned Zane's power is a transformation ability, not a permanent physiological change like his father's. He transforms into the Juggernaut, then either reverts under his own power or automatically changes back after a certain period of time elapses. He does not possess Juggie's mystical force field, which accounts for his diminished durability. Also, J2 himself does not possess an enhanced resistance to psychic assaults, but rather is using his father's old mystically endowed helmet as a buffer for mental attacks.

this guy is still one of my most missed characters because I thought his book was very well written and was light enough to enjoy the stories! I miss his book!
