Glitterspike was genetically altered to absorb and process light as energy and sustenance, as well as form solid objects out of light. Working as a hitman, Glitterspike discovered the whereabouts of his former girlfriend, Rosa Navarro, who was pregnant with his child. Tracking her down, he found her with the Freakshow and fought Metalhead, whom he vanquished - kidnapping Rosa.
Using her powers to escape, they were both taken by the Shadow Dancer, an alien stranded on Earth for centuries. Trapped in a cave with the Shadow Dancer, Glitterspike eventually escaped, at the cost of his arm and a scarred face, and returned for Rosa. He was stopped by his own unborn son, who trapped Glitterspike to protect his mother.
